Trusted leakster Evan Blass has once again set tongues wagging with his latest leak on Twitter, and it is regarding the much awaited handsets Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. According to his tweet, the handsets will be announced on Oct. 5 and they will come with a Snapdragon 836 CPU inside. This processor has not been announced yet and is expected to be a bit more efficient and powerful than the SD 835 chipset (the one powering the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 8). The SD 836 rumor came to light last month.

“Google's second-generation Pixel handsets, powered by Snapdragon 836 SoC's, will be unveiled on October 5th,” Blass tweeted.

Expect a difference in appearance

Up to now, tech and smartphone enthusiasts were relying heavily on leaks, photos and various renderings of the upcoming handsets. Now, they have something concrete. The Pixel and Pixel XL were released exactly one year and one day before, on Oct. 4 last year. Moreover, there have been reports that this year’s Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC and will be a 5-inch device. The larger version will be manufactured by LG. There will be a difference in appearance. The larger handset could employ a near bezel-less design while the smaller one could have distinct bezels at the top and bottom.

Android 8.0 Oreo on the cards

Fans are also super excited about the release as the Google smartphones will be the first Android sets to run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, reports Phone Arena.

The smartphones may not in fact look like other flagship handsets, and Blass has agreed with the rumors of the smartphones dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, Google has not officially confirmed the release date or the top features yet. Hence, the leak must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Pixel 2 and XL 2 features

Codenamed Muskie and Taimen, the smartphones have been subjected to numerous rumors and leaks.

Going by them, the Pixel XL 2 could come with an AMOLED 6-inch display and wide speaker grille at the top, sitting right next to front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Pixel 2 will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that will be placed below the dual cameras. Experts are also expecting a number of changes to the rear panel.

A monotone rear panel is rumored. The upcoming Pixel phones may also come with stereo speakers.
