The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is here. The world’s largest smartphone maker regarding market share, unveiled the phablet with top features, such as dual rear cameras and the biggest screen ever, in New York on Wednesday. Samsung is hoping and secretly praying to extinguish all memories of the Galaxy Note 7 fiery disaster. The newly revealed smartphone is all set to compete for tooth and nail with the soon arriving Apple iPhone 8, 10th-anniversary edition, during the pre-holiday season sale. The iPhone 8 is expected to be unveiled in September.
Samsung checkmates Note 7 disaster
According to Zee Biz, the device has kicked off a new era of premium-priced handsets with a price tag of $930-960. It includes a dialing and data plan. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 will cost $1,000 plus. Samsung would be relieved already as Galaxy S8 handset sales have taken off with a bang, which indicates that the company has partially recovered from the fiasco that resulted in the Note 7 withdrawal. The Note 8 has been unveiled five months after the release of the S8 smartphone.
DJ Koh thankful to millions of Samsung fans
Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh said during the launch event that while it is impossible to forget what happened last year, it is also unbelievable how millions of fans stuck with Samsung, even after the disaster.
The company has gained ground with 22 percent market share in the second quarter, which is more than Apple and Huawei’s share combined. It has also been revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be made available from Sept. 15 though the place and price are still unknown.
$1,000 mark the new premium smartphone pricing standard
While T-Mobile will be offering the handset for $930, Verizon will start taking pre-orders from Thursday at a price of $960. The pricing shows that the $1,000 mark is becoming the new standard for premium handsets. The South Korean tech giant makes Note displays larger than the S series.
The Note phablets also come with a removable stylus. The newly revealed mobile has a 6.3-inch curved display, just 0.1 inches larger than the S8 Plus. The Galaxy sets all have edge-to-edge displays now.
Dual rear cameras & enhanced security
While the Apple iPhone 8 will sport a similar kind of display, the iPhone 7 update may not. Samsung is raising the bar with every release, and if any company is not meeting the same standards, that’s having an impact. The dual rear cameras are expected to photo quality and photographic control manifold. The security technology has been enhanced too. There is fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, and Iris scanning. The Bixby voice command assistant will provide a unique AI experience. The Standard headphone jack is also present.
