Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone is not the only handset expected to take the smartphone realm by storm in 2017. Aside from the iPhone 8, Samsung's equally anticipated Galaxy Note 8 will be leaving no stone unturned in a bid to sweep smartphone enthusiasts off their feet.
Samsung's next flagship smartphone delayed?
Although the South Korean handset maker has officially confirmed the Galaxy Note 8 will release in New York on August 23, a report from ETNews claims the hotly-anticipated smartphone will be delayed by more than three weeks before the Galaxy Note-branded handset finally hits the store shelves.
A carrier representative to ETNews confirmed they will start selling the Note 8 from September 15, further adding that the device's price is yet to be set. This shred of information was apparently declared to ETNews by an unnamed representative from a different carrier.
The representative deemed the changes final. Furthermore, he noted Samsung is highly unlikely to change the launch date of Galaxy Note 8.
It can be recalled that the three-week hiatus is nearly a week longer than the company previously took between the unveiling and launch of the controversy-plagued Galaxy Note 7.
ETNews attributes the delayed launch to the company's attempt to boost stock availability and for building more hype around the hotly anticipated phablet through advertisements.
Release date and other details
While details about the Note 8 pre-order are hard to come by, Forbes' contributor Gordon Kelly points to Samsung's pattern of starting about a couple of weeks ahead of scheduled release. On top of that, ETNews has a respectable track record as far as carrier contacts are concerned. Plus, the site did a bang-up job predicting the launch dates for the Galaxy S8 earlier this year.
Tech tipster Evan Blass recently shared a sunset image via a tweet and linked it to his recent article that threw light on the Note 8's final specifications. Although the image was not used in the story, the popular leaker told Kelly that it is official and will be used in Samsung marketing as soon as the Galaxy Note 8 officially hits the store shelves.

Specifications and features
The upcoming phablet will be bigger and faster when compared to the Galaxy S8 and will sport an upgraded camera. On the downside, it will be backed by a smaller battery than its precursor, the Galaxy Note 7, according to a report from Fortune.
In addition to its trademark stylus, the phone will come with a massive 6.3-inch SuperAMOLED display with 1440 x 2960p resolution. It will also feature thin curved bezel. Its dimensions are 162.55 x 74.6mm and it will be 8.5mm thick.
The US version of the Note 8 will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM, unlike the S8, which came with 4GB of memory, and a whopping 64GB of expandable internal storage.
