It seems that Samsung is not developing just one but two smartphones to be released later in 2017. While the South Korean OEM is developing the much anticipated and widely rumored Galaxy Note 8, it is being speculated that one more high-end Android run flip smartphone is on its way. Speculations are rife that alongside the Galaxy Note 8 phablet, the Samsung smartphone carrying the model number SM-W2018 may be introduced as well on August 23.
Flip phone to come with high-end features
The leaked images of the Samsung Flip Phone were shared online courtesy Slashleaks and is the successor of the company’s SM-W2017 flip phone.
The upcoming rumored smartphone according to the leaked images sports an identical clamshell design. However, the best part of the rumored SM-W2018 smartphone is that the clamshell flip phone will be coming with some high-end specs. The leaked images show that the flip phone will be featuring two screens similar to its predecessor.
The front screen of the SM-W2018 when closed is similar to the front display of the SM-W2017 with the bottom bezel thicker than the top bezel. The top bezel of the SM-W2018 sports the Samsung logo in the center, while the bottom bezel houses the home button and the capacitive navigation keys. The leaked images of the upcoming Samsung smartphone do not show the handset with the flip cover open.
Thus, it is not possible to state whether the design and specs placement will be similar to its predecessor.
However, the leaked images of the SM-W2018 does show that the power cum lock button has been placed on the right, while the volume control button has been embedded on the left. On the rear panel, the handset sports a camera setup on the top center with the LED flash placed on the left-hand side of the camera lens.
The Samsung logo has been etched right below the rear mounted camera.
Rumored specs
The rumors of the specs the flip handset would pack in surfaced a week ago. According to speculations, the Samsung SM-W2018 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest offering Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Apart from that each screen of the handset will measure 4.2-inch and will feature HD quality images.
Apart from that, it is being rumored that Samsung has crammed in 6 GB of RAM in the comparatively small smartphone along with 64 GB of internal memory. In terms of camera, the smartphone is said to come with a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary selfie snapper.
Samsung SM-W2018 release date
Although rumors hints that the Samsung SM-W2018 has received approval from both Federal Communications Commission and the Chinese regulatory body TENAA, the exact launch date of the smartphone is yet to be known. There is also some doubt whether the smartphone will be released in markets outside China. This would make more sense as the predecessor SM-W2017 was also restricted only to China and was not shipped to international markets.
