It has been just three months since the launch and release of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+; however, the tech world is already looking forward to the successor of the current flagships. It is rumored that Samsung has already started working on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones for their 2018 launch and may unveil the upcoming flagships at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2018.
On the other hand, it is believed that popular chipmaker Qualcomm is simultaneously working on the development of Snapdragon 845, which may be incorporated in the Galaxy S9 series.
However, given the fact the 2017 models have been game changers for the company, tech enthusiasts can expect a lot more from its successor. Here’s a look at what users can expect from the next generation Samsung flagship smartphones.
Fingerprint reader to come underneath the screen?
Both Apple and Samsung had wanted to move the fingerprint reader to the front and place it underneath the display in their respective upcoming smartphones. However, PhoneArena previously reported that both the OEMS failed to perfect the technology. The South Korean OEM is expected to tweak the technology and incorporate it in the Galaxy S9 series of smartphones.
A foldable screen for Galaxy S9?
Samsung is supposedly working on a Galaxy smartphone - dubbed Galaxy X – featuring a foldable display have been abuzz for quite a few years.
Furthermore, a Samsung official also stated to the media that the company has no plans of unveiling a foldable screen smartphone before 2019. However, plans may change in the coming months and one can always hope for the positive.
Dual-rear camera setup?
Although the latest contender for the title of the first Samsung smartphone to house a dual-rear camera setup is currently the upcoming Note 8, it is yet to be confirmed if the feature will make its way to the phablet as there leaks and rumors that suggest otherwise.
In case the Note 8 does not come with two rear cameras, then one can expect the next flagship to house the premium feature.
A lower price tag
Given that the Galaxy S8 series smartphones came with some of the most high-end features and specs, not many were surprised with the expensive price tag the duo sported. However, not all smartphone lovers have such a large budget, unless they are buying a device on the two-year installment plan. If Samsung reduces the price of its next-generation flagship smartphone, it would be able to lure more consumers.
