It looks like HMD Global is gearing up to unveil a new Nokia branded flagship handset before the end of this month.

Previous reports and leaks

For those unaware, HMD Global is a Finland-based company that currently makes mobile phones for the much-lauded Nokia brand. Ubergizmom cited recently surfaced reports claiming that the Finnish company is on the verge of launching a new handset bearing the Nokia 8 moniker. The website also suggests the new device will not be identical to the company's previously released handsets.

Another report coming from Gadgets 360 seems to rubber stamp the impending release of Nokia 8.

Interestingly, this does not align with previous reports that suggested Nokia 9, and not Nokia 8, was just around the corner. While this yet to be announced Nokia handset is no stranger to rumors, the website specifically highlights a recently surfaced leak that points to July 31 as a launch date for the upcoming smartphone. Meanwhile, more details regarding the alleged Nokia 8 smartphone including its price, specifications, and color options have found their way onto the internet. Let's delve straight into the details.

Release date, price, and availability

According to WinFuture, a German website, the Nokia 8 will come bearing a price tag of EUR 589, which roughly converts to about $675. Although this falls in the premium price category, the device will still be relatively low-priced than Samsung and Apple flagships.

In fact, this is even cheaper than the previously speculated price of EUR 749 (about $858). The site also seems to confirm the device's July 31 launch, which is about just a couple of weeks from now. If this leak proves to be true, it is very likely that other shreds of information regarding the device's specs, pricing, and availability in various regions will be revealed sooner rather than later.

Specifications and other details

The report suggests Nokia 8 will pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage at the beginning, while the purported 6GB and 8GB RAM models will come to fruition subsequently. Smartphone enthusiasts will be able to select from four color options which include Gold/Copper, Gold/Blue, and Blue, Steel. There's also a possibility that the Finish handset maker might give these color options creative names on launch day.

Furthermore, the looming Nokia handset is expected to boast a bezel-less design. The device will come with a USB Type-C port and dual speakers which will be located at its bottom edge. In terms of optics, it will either feature a vertically positioned camera strip at the back or sport a rear-mounted dual camera setup.

The dual-SIM smartphone will feature an iris scanner and will be IP68 water resistant. The report stated it would have a fingerprint scanner as well. Moreover, it will sport a 5.3-inch QHD display. Under the hood, the new Nokia handset will pack the Snapdragon 835 SoC. The Nokia 8 will sport a 13MP dual camera setup at the back and a 13MP front shooter for the selfie addicts.
