Lenovo-backed Motorola has big plans this year. The company is expected to launch several Android-based smartphones and one of them is Moto Z2. If reports are to be believed, the device was recently spotted on benchmarking website, GFXBench. The smartphone is rumored to launch next month. Moto Z2 is said to be the flagship smartphone of the company.
Moto Z2 will come up with two variants
According to prominent leakster, Evan Blass, the smartphone is going to arrive in two versions. He even posted an image that pretty much showcases what the Moto Z2 smartphone is going to look like. He went on to confirm that the smartphone is currently in the pipeline. Since the Moto Z family falls under the modular smartphone category, users will also be able to purchase new and upgraded accessories that they can attach to the device and use. Lenovo confirmed at a recent event that Motorola will be supporting ‘Moto Mods’ for three generations at least. Meanwhile, as per information provided on GFXBench, the Moto Z2 smartphone is going to pack a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad-HD touch-screen display, powered by 2.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, along with Adreno 540 GPU.
The smartphone offers 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. On the camera front, the smartphone will be packing a 12MP rear camera. There hasn’t been any word on the front snapper as yet.
Specs and features will be cutting-edge
As pointed out by Tech Advisor, last year’s Moto Z smartphone packed a 5.19mm thin body. Therefore, it is natural to expect the company to pull off the same or a similar deed with the upcoming Moto Z2 as well. The smartphone has already been approved by the Chinese regulation website. The device is currently listed under the model number, ‘XT1710-08.’ There is no official confirmation on the battery specs as yet, but it seems like the smartphone will pack a 2,820mAh battery.
It will come across as a grave disappointment as the original Moto Z version came with a 3,510mAh battery. The headphone jack on this smartphone will not be eliminated, so users must not worry about that part at least. Like mentioned previously, there are several rumors that suggest that the Moto Z2 smartphone might be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC and if this turns out to be true then the smartphone will fall in direct competition with other big smartphone brands such as Apple, Samsung, Google and Nokia as well. However, note that none of this information has been attested as yet.
