Microsoft's new-gen gaming console, Xbox Project Scorpio, is set to arrive this year. It aims to be one of the biggest storylines at the upcoming E3 2017 event. But today, Microsoft is about to share new details about the console ahead of the big E3 2017 event.

The Redmond-based software giant has just released a Video in which Xbox engineer Kevin Gammill talks more about the Dev Kit. There’s not much information about the Scorpio’s dev kit when it first revealed to the public last April, but the newly released video provides a much closer look at the next-gen hardware.

The recently revealed dev kit is said to be more different than the previous one and doesn't have the same form factor as the retail kit, according to The Verge.

Inside the Scorpio’s new development kit

Xbox Scorpio engineer Kevin Gammill has just announced that the dev kit looks different to the final Scorpio console. Microsoft said that the dev kit now features a whopping 24 GB of GDDR5 RAM, which said to offer lots of space than the retail unit. Additionally, the dev kit also has an additional 1 TB SSD hard drive and 1 TB HDD for the retail console.

Microsoft also reveals that the system has a front-panel display that can display frame rate and can even have miniature games programmed on it on the OLED display.

The display is said to be a unique part of the Scorpio development kit, however, it’s unlikely that the company will bring this unique feature to the retail console.

Aside from the additional terabytes of space, the dev kit also includes the same ports as the retail Scorpio unit, along with three USB ports and a network card for debugging information.

There’s also the ability to toggle between Xbox One, Xbox One S or Scorpio modes.

Xbox Scorpio, Microsoft’s ultimate weapon of choice in the fierce console battle with Sony

The Redmond-based software firm has already announced recently that the much-awaited Xbox Project Scorpio will be the next step for the Xbox One gaming lines and will also be the most powerful gaming console ever created in the market.

This next-gen gaming console has been designed to support native 4K gaming and VR technology. It’s slated for general release this coming holiday season.

The software company is expected to reveal the final Scorpio naming along with the pricing and design at the upcoming company’s E3 press conference this coming Sunday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time/ 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Other Microsoft’s announcement about Xbox Scorpio

There have been lots of stories and speculations about the Xbox Scorpio’s immense computing power. The next-gen console has become the subjects of endless talks and debates about the future of the gaming console. The company is said to be fully onboard with the console’s potential and is expected to counter high-end gaming PCs and come out with a much more viable option for budget gamers who want to play games on a native 4k-enabled gaming console.

Additional and even more detailed information about the upcoming console Xbox Project Scorpio will presumably be discussed at E3 2017 next week. Xbox fans are expected to get more about the next-gen gaming console, along with the first party titles like the much-talked “Forza Motorsport” and “State of Decay 2.”

In addition to the first party titles, the software giant has also revealed to the gaming world that Project Scorpio will be launch in China this year, just the same release date with the US market. This has come as a big surprise for everyone, that is because the Xbox One hasn’t been released in China market until after it released in the US and other major regions.

Finally, Microsoft has also announced that all Xbox One games work on the upcoming gaming console, though the Scorpio editions can look and perform better, in some cases
