The infamous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will reportedly come back in a safer and more impressive version this year. Although the device was a total disaster last year, the South Korean electronics giant never gave up on it. When speculations about the device surface earlier this year, analysts noted that Samsung will indeed redeem the reputation of their infamous device. There is speculation that the mobile device will be named Samsung Galaxy Note 7R.
Certifications
It appears the recent talks about the return of the device are not speculations after all.
In a report published by the Investor in Korea, it confirmed that Samsung already received approval from the US Federal Communications Commission. The report added that it is now planning to submit an application for safety certification of refurbished phone in South Korea's National Radio Research Agency or NRRA.
Release date
The Investor continued that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7R is expected to be released in May or June 2017. With the recent approval from the US FCC, it appears that the device will also be released in the US. Allegedly, the device will be made available first in South Korea, and soon after to other regions, Taking into consideration that the number of days to get a certification from the NRRA would take a month, it's possible that the device will be available in June 2017.
What can consumers expect from the new Galaxy Note?
When the company released the device in August 2016, many complimented the 3,500 mAh lithium-ion battery cell. It turns out, however, to be the device's biggest problem as it is the same factor that triggered the explosion of the device that later resulted in its total recall.
With the previous fate of the device, there is no doubt that the company has already gone through every aspect of technical research and application to have a safer battery pack. From the latest leak, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7R reportedly will now have 3,200 mAh battery.
Price and specs
A Chinese e-commerce site reportedly listed the Samsung Galaxy 7R on sale for CNY 3,599-3,999 or around $521-$549 USD.
There are also other reports claiming that the device will be released at a price 50 percent lesser than its previous selling price. For a refurbished model with a tainted integrity in terms of device safety, it is a good deal.
For its other specification, it is speculated that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7R will have a 5.7-inch display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution. In addition, it is expected to run on Android 6.0.1 operating system with 1.6 GHz octa-core processor. Aside from that, the device allegedly will sport a 5-megapixel front camera and 12-megapixel rear camera. it is also expected to have a 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.
