Microsoft held its May event, #MicrosoftEDU. The Redmond-based tech conglomerate unveiled a stunning range of new devices.

Specs, design, and features

The latest device from Microsoft has a dimension of 12.13” x 8.79” x .57” (308.1 mm x 223.27 mm x 14.48 mm). It has a 13.5” PixelSense display with a 2256 x 1504 (201 PPI) resolution. In addition, it has a 3:2 aspect ratio with 3.4 million pixels. The display is Surface pen-enabled and has 10 point multi-touch. Moreover, the display features Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Surface Laptop has a memory of 4GB, 8GB or 16 GB.

It runs on Intel's 7th generation processors, either the i5 or the i7. For its software, it uses the latest software from the Redmond-based tech giant, the Windows 10 S. If you prefer to run other apps outside of the Windows store, you can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free until December 31, 2017.

The device weighs 2.76 lbs (1,252 grams) and boasts a battery life of 14.5 hours of video playback. For its graphics, it uses Intel HD 620 (i5) or Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 (i7). The device has USB 3.0, Headset jack, Mini Display Port, and Surface Connect. In terms of storage, the Surface Laptop uses Solid state drive (SSD) with options ranging from 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

Moreover, the device uses a Windows Hello face sign-in camera.

It is also equipped with stereo microphones and Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio Premium, and a 3.5mm audio jack. In addition, it has a 720 HD front-facing camera. The Surface Laptop comes in four varying colors: Platinum, Cobalt Blue, Graphite Gold, and Burgundy. Unfortunately, these colors will not be available for all variants.

The latest device from Microsoft is available for pre-order today.

It will be available to all consumers on June 15, 2017. For its base variant equipped with i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage, the company is selling it for $999. As for the other variants' prices, they have not been 100% confirmed yet. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
