An alleged leaked memo from Apple may indicate that the Cupertino-based company is getting ready to launch its next flagship, the iPhone 8 or iPhone X, in September. The leaked memo speaks about the Blackout Dates that Apple executives will have to adhere to starting September 17 and ending on November 4.

The memo was leaked by notorious tipster Benjamin Geskin through his official Twitter account. However, he has a mixed reputation when it comes to leaks because he is known to have been wrong in many of his previous reports.

What are blackout dates?

Blackout dates are the days or period during which important company executives and advisors are barred from taking days off. This means that these dates are usually the time when a company feels would be crucial to have all its staffs present. All AppleCare team members have been asked not to ask for leave, whether paid or unpaid, within these blackout dates, when the company expects a large number of calls from customers.

What the memo reveals

The memo asks all employees to be present from the September to November time period and also mentions that these blackout days were scheduled due to the new products which the company is set to release in the market during that time.

This may indicate that the Cupertino-based company is planning to start selling all of the three new iPhones during that time window.

Previous rumors have indicated that the iPhone 8 will most likely launch during September. However, the other two handsets, namely the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus are also expected sometime in the same period of time.

So, the memo may be referring to the release of all of the three devices.

It is also important to note that the blackout dates have been declared for almost a continuous two months. This may mean one of two things – either Apple expects the sales volume to be immense and so has assigned the additional time to attend to any extra calls within that time.

On the other hand, the longer period of blackout may mean that one or more of the device will get delayed and will be released after September. However, both of these eventualities indicate that at least one Apple handset will be released in September.

One must, however, remember that this memo is just a rumor and may not be true at all. The memo picture posted through the tweet includes several spelling and grammatical errors, which further raise the question of authenticity. For now, it would be better to take this with a grain of salt and wait for September instead or for some wait for Apple to release some concrete news about their upcoming releases.
