The Samsung Galaxy S6 is celebrating its 2nd birthday in 2017. With Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S8, around the corner, it is great to see that the Korean tech giants are still showing the S6 some love. Samsung has previously announced that all S6 models, including the S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus, would be receiving the Nougat update in early 2017. So what exactly can Galaxy S6 users look forward to?
Blue Light Filter and Camera update
Other than better battery life, performance and optimization, the Nougat update will also include several new and useful features for Galaxy S6 users. One of those features will be the Blue Light Filter, which is great news, especially for those who tend to get eye strains from using their phone at night. The blue light emitted from the screen is especially harmful to the eye when used in darker surroundings. With the Blue Light Filter, users will now be able to reduce the eye strain by limiting the amount of blue light emitted from their phones. Furthermore, the Camera will also be receiving a major visual overhaul and will become much more user-friendly.
Switching between different picture modes will be easier than ever.
Security features to keep your confidential data safe
The Nougat update will also bring in some improved security and privacy features to the 2015 flagship phone. This update will finally introduce the so called Secure Folders, which is basically a feature that allows users to protect confidential and private files. Data that is stored in a Secure Folder can only be accessed through biometric or alphanumeric verification. This feature comes in handy for protecting your login information or bank details from the public. Another great security feature that will likely be included in the Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 is the Secure Pass.
This feature will allow you to unlock several security features and make it easier for you to login to various applications simply by using your fingerprint for verification.
The Galaxy S6 won't receive all Nougat features
Considering the age of the Galaxy S6, it is no surprise that the phone won't be getting all the new and cool features that the Galaxy S7 did, when the Nougat update rolled out for the 2016 flagship phone. S6 users will most likely miss out on certain features such as the Always On Display, the Video Enhancer, the new Performance Mode, as well as several camera modes. This is kind of unfortunate, but there are still plenty of things to look forward to in the upcoming Nougat update - not the least of which is the slick and aesthetically pleasing user interface.
