The specifications of the rumored samsung galaxy S8+ has been leaked on Twitter via the popular tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks. Responding to media recently, Samsung's Mobile Chief Koh Dong-jin had confirmed that the company would announce the official date for the Galaxy S8 launch at MWC 2017. Based on the latest reports, the new Samsung Galaxy series will be unveiled in March 2017 followed by its availability from April 2017.

A 6.2-inch display with water-resistant features expected

According to the leaked specifications, the new Galaxy phone will feature a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD+ display.

The display specification mention two possible sizes such as full rectangle and rounded corners. When it comes to the rounded corners, the upcoming handset will have a 6.1-inch display size.

With support for 4G LTE, the phone with model number SM-G955FD will be equipped with a 12MP dual pixel rear camera alongside 8MP front-facing shooter. Moreover, the handset will offer support for dust and water resistant capabilities via IP68 technology.

If you look at the Galaxy S7, it also offers similar resistance features. Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy smartphone will offer a 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB expandable internal storage. Interestingly, the leaked specifications don’t mention about the processor, but we expect the phone will bear a Snapdragon 835 processor.

Unlock your new phone with an Iris scanner

The main attraction of the upcoming Galaxy S8 series is the integration of an Iris scanner, which will look identical to that of the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Furthermore, the phone will provide support for Samsung Pay, using which you can pay for services in supported countries.

With support for wireless charging, the rumored phone also includes features such as Samsung Knox security and earphones amplified by AKG. The leaked document only specifies the fact that the phone will be equipped with Android operating system with no reference to Nougat. In all probability, the Galaxy S8 series will be loaded with Android Nougat.

To recall, Samsung has just started to roll out Android Nougat update for the currently available Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones.

Recently, there were reports that the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will be renamed as Galaxy S8+. The latest leak by Blass confirms the fact that the company will ditch the popular Edge branding.

Even though Samsung was planning to launch the phone at MWC 2017, the move was reportedly halted due to internal adjustments. As per the reports, the company is currently testing the smartphone in extreme temperature conditions to make sure that the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco is not repeated. The latest news in the rumor mill is that the Samsung Galaxy S8 series will be available for purchase globally from April 21.
