The popular video game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is finally getting a sequel 3 years after its release in 2014. Like its predecessor, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is going to be an open world action-role playing video game set in the world of Lord of the Rings. With both a cinematic as well as a gameplay trailer released recently, fans got a first glimpse of the game. In this article we will be looking at all the latest rumors you need to know about Middle-earth: Shadow of war.

Story and Gameplay

Shadow of War is set to pick up right where the story left off in Shadow of Mordor.

Players will once again play as Talion and Celebrimbor who have forged a new ring of power in order to infiltrate Mordor and turn the army of Orcs against their dark lord Sauron. Similar to the first game, players will be able to build up a large army by using the powers of Celebrimbor to take control of the Orcs.

The official announcement trailer also seems to suggest that Talion will be squaring off against the Nazgul and a Balrog at some point in the game. The gameplay trailer further shows that while the combat system seems to have remained unchanged, a new feature called Nemesis Fortress has been added to the game. According to Warner Bros. this addition will "allow players to utilize different strategies to conquer dynamic strongholds and create personalized worlds with their unique Orc army.”

Platforms and Release Date

Like its predecessor Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be released for Playstation 4, Xbox One as well as PC.

Unsurprisingly, the game is not planned to be released for either the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360. Shadow of War will, however, be part of the Play Anywhere service.

This will allow players who own both an Xbox One and a PC to play on both platforms with the save data being transferred automatically. The open world RPG is expected to come out in August this year, while pre-order is already available. Players who pre-order the game will receive inclusive in-game content including the Epic Sword of Dominion.
