The NFL power rankings for Week 16 have arrived and the sprint to the 2018 regular season finale is looking like it is going to be a photo finish. The Cleveland Browns are awake from the dead, the Los Angeles Chargers continue to make an argument for No. 1, and the New England Patriots have suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in December since 2002.
Browns rolling
Someone brake up the Cleveland Browns! After winning just one game in two seasons, the Browns won four of their last five and caught fire under rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield.
CBS Sports indicates that the Browns defeated the Carolina Panthers two weeks ago, and the Denver Broncos on Saturday helping them complete the 2-game sweep of the two teams that battled it out in Super Bowl 50.
Defeating those two squads shows that this Cleveland team is definitely heading in the right direction. Now the question is can they complete this incredible run and make a wildcard spot?
No,w how about that Philip Rivers? The Rams are getting all the hype, yet the Chargers just keep motoring along in the AFC West. Just one month ago no one believed that the Chargers could catch up to the Kansas City Chiefs - last Thursday night the Bolts did just that.
Once again the Chargers pulled out fourth-quarter heroics as they rallied from a 28-14 deficit to win 29-28.
Last but far from least, how about the Indianapolis Colts? After starting 1-5, Indy has won seven of eight and are in the thick of the postseason race. Andrew Luck looks like he did before his injury and for the first time in a long time, Lucas Oil Stadium is rocking again.
On Sunday, the Colts shut down Dak, Zeke and the 1 23-0.
Patriots run over?
Okay, let’s get to brass tax. Every team in the league wants to be the New England Patriots. Only in New England can a 9-5 team be labeled as fading. Yes, the Pats have played bad the last two weeks, but they are one win away from clinching the AFC East division title for the 16th time in the Tom Brady era.
The run is far from done.
