The Nebraska football is hoping for one heck of a finish to the 2019 recruiting cycle. Before the cycle is completely done, there is the early signing period, which begins in just four days. The Huskers have positioned themselves for a Top 20 recruiting class as things stand now. The Huskers are actually hoping to get into the Top 25 thanks to the addition of players like Lloyd Summerall and Jimmy Fritzsche. The Cornhuskers will have to wait until December 19 in order to find out whether or not they get Summerall. The staff had thought they were about to wrap up Fritzsche when he visited on Saturday, but there is a new player in the mix.

Clemson Tigers offer to Jimmy Fritzsche complicates things

The Nebraska football team wants the 3-star tight end prospect to come to Lincoln as an offensive lineman. They thought they had found a way to get him to fall in love with everything Memorial stadium has to offer. 247Sports has him listed as 100 percent Huskers in their crystal balls. The problem is that all of those predictions were made before the prospect visited the Clemson Tigers and then received an official offer in the process.

The Huskers have been going up against some of the biggest schools in the country for most of the recruiting cycle.

While the staff might have plenty of experience going to war against those teams because of that, they haven't been going toe-to-toe with one of the teams that are competing for a National Title this season all that often. The Clemson Tigers could be a big enough team that Fritzsche could end up flipping.

Nebraska football looking to lock Fritzsche down

Jimmy Fritzsche will be looking at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, December 15. The visit, just four days before signing day has to be good news for a staff that is near desperate for offensive linemen in this class. He is someone who has a little more athletic ability than what the team has been getting on the line.

He's able to play tight end and that could mean that he is someone that could bounce back and forth between positions. He's also someone who is just plain good at football. That's rather obvious when you consider Clemson is going after what is, at face value, just a 3-star prospect. The Nebraska football team would love to win the battle against the Tigers. It will be interesting to see if they can lock the player up when he comes to Lincoln to check things out this weekend, or whether this is going to be more signing day drama.
