The NBA world got excited when LeBron James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this past offseason. After leading the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers to multiple NBA title appearances, LeBron now has a chance to bring one of the proudest franchises in the NBA back to relevance after years of mediocrity. However, as the Lakers prepare to battle the world champion Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, one Warriors' team member is not impressed -- which should come as no surprise to anyone who knows Draymond Green.
Draymond Green on facing LeBron on Christmas
For the last four years, the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James faced Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Now that James is part of the Lakers, he no longer will have that opportunity but has to hope to see the Warriors in the postseason anyway. For Green, he just doesn't care.
Draymond Green said that he doesn't care that LeBron James plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Green said that their Christmas Day opponent is Los Angeles, and James happens to play for them and that is it. While Green dismissed any talk of LeBron, he did say that Kyle Kuzma has "really stepped up" and that Lonzo Ball is "playing well."
Kevin Durant was a little more complimentary.
He said the Golden State Warriors have their work cut out for them against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Durant said that the Lakers are playing "fast" and "energetic basketball" and that they are building momentum. With LeBron, Durant said he opens things up for everyone.
Stephon Curry said that the Golden State Warriors have seen LeBron James a lot over the last four years -- specifically in the NBA Finals. Curry seems more excited that Draymond Green, saying it will be a fun atmosphere as they play on Christmas Day for the fourth straight season.
LeBron James talks Warriors
For his part, LeBron James doesn't see the game against the Golden State Warriors as anything special either.
This is the first time this season that James will face Golden State, although there will be three more meetings in January, February and April. The game in April will likely mean more because that is when playoff rankings are most important for the Los Angeles Lakers.
LeBron James said that he doesn't see this as special, despite playing the Warriors for the title in four straight years and losing three of those series. He said that the Los Angeles Lakers are just trying to get better every week and every month. This is just another game for the King.
