The AP Top 25 rankings for Week 4 have arrived, and in case you missed it, yesterday (September 15) wasn’t the greatest for many of the top-ranked teams in the land. Two teams in the top 10 tasted defeat, while four others, including two more in the top 20 were all upset. Outside of the top three teams in the land, the standings are getting a major shakeup.

Wisconsin, ASU biggest shockers

The Wisconsin Badgers were a preseason favorite to not only possibly win the Big Ten, but they also were a top sleeper team that could contend for the 2019 championship. Those title hopes took a serious blow yesterday when they fell at home to the BYU Cougars 24-21.

According to a CBS Sports report, Wisconsin came into this contest as a 23-point favorite, and they were definitely the consensus choice to win this game against the unranked Cougars. Nevertheless, that is why the old saying remains true, the game is played on the field and not on paper. Junior quarterback Alex Hornibrook had a very subpar game, throwing for 190 yards, one interception, and zero touchdowns.

The only good news for the Badgers is that an early season loss can always be redeemed down the line - but they will need to pretty much win out from here, and get a little help along the way. The loss dropped the Badgers from No. 6 to No. 18 in the latest AP Top 25 rankings.

Other top teams that went down in defeat include No. 7 Auburn, No. 15 TCU, No. 17 Boise State, No. 22 Southern California and No. 23 Arizona State. The Sun Devils had a great chance to be the surprise team of 2018 following a huge upset win over the Michigan State Spartans. However, they are now on the outside looking in following their loss to San Diego State.

LSU, BYU make big moves

The biggest winners in the newly released Week 4 college Football standings are the LSU Tigers and BYU Cougars.

LSU took down the Auburn Tigers in Auburn by the final of 22-21. The win propelled LSU from No. 12 last week to No. 6 in the latest standings. BYU is the new No. 25 team in the land, however, they were No. 75 last week! Congrats to the Cougars on the well deserved recognition by the pollsters. It is never easy to beat Wisconsin in Madison, but the 2-1 Cougars did just that.
