There is really only a handful of very high quality running backs in fantasy Football, which makes the best ones even more important. Last week's list featured Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon, players who both ranked in the top three last week. Here are the ten best fantasy running backs for week 3 of fantasy football.

1. Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley

The Rams destroyed the Cardinals in week 2, 34-0, and Gurley was the beneficiary. He only had 42 yards rushing, but racked up three touchdowns, and ended up with 29 fantasy points. As the best player on a great offense, Gurley is going to be the top fantasy running back option almost every week.

2. New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara

Kamara didn't follow up his huge game in week 1 with another, but he did score 11 fantasy points without a touchdown. In week 3, Kamara will play against a Falcons team that just allowed Christian McCaffrey to catch 14 passes for 102 receiving yards.

3. Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt

After a lackluster week 1, Hunt returned to the elite fantasy ranks with a 13 point fantasy performance against the Chiefs. He gets plenty of touches in one of the league's best offenses and should be primed for another good day in what should be a high scoring game with the 49ers.

4. Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon

Gordon was ranked as the third-best running back last week, and he delivered, scoring three touchdowns against a Bills defense that can't seem to stop anybody.

This week, Gordon will play against a Rams defense that is tough against the run. Thankfully, Melvin Gordon is versatile enough to do plenty of damage in the passing game.

5. Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook

Cook has a total of 15 fantasy points in two fantasy outings, a disappointment for fantasy owners who drafted him at the top of the first round.

This week, those owners will get a reprieve as Cook takes on a Buffalo Bills defense that gives up yardage in chunks. It doesn't hurt that the Vikings will likely be playing from ahead as 16.5 point home favorites.

6. Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot

In week 3, one of the best running backs in the league will get to play against a Seahawks run defense that is no longer dominant.

Elliot hasn't had the greatest start to the season, but he's still the main driving force behind the Cowboys offense and should be a huge part of the gameplan against the Seahawks.

7. Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard

The Cardinals have looked awful on offense for two straight weeks, scoring a total of six points in two weeks. That bodes well for Howard, who will likely be running the clock out late and accumulating yards. The Cardinals did just let Todd Gurley score three touchdowns, so it's a good matchup for Howard.

8. Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffery

McCaffery might not have a ton of rushing yards, but he certainly makes a large contribution in the passing game. He caught 14 passes for 102 receiving yards against the Falcons and ended his day with 13 fantasy points.

McCaffrey is responsible for a huge portion of Carolina's offense and is a top ten player every week when he's healthy.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner

The Steelers went down early in week 2 to the Chiefs, which left Conner with just eight carries. He did manage to score a touchdown on one of those carries, which helped salvage his fantasy day. Now the Steelers play the Buccaneers in week 3 in what could be another shootout with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Conner is certainly a must-start every week that Le'Veon Bell is out.

10. Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman

Without Devonta Freeman in the mix, Coleman automatically becomes a top ten fantasy running back. Coleman rushed for 107 yards in week 2 and should have plenty of opportunities to score fantasy points against the New Orleans Saints.
