Last week, the top 10 Week 1 Fantasy Football running backs featured several of the top scorers in Week 1, including Todd Gurley and Alvin Kamara. Week 2 brings a new slate of matchups and we might even get to see Le'Veon Bell return to play against the Chiefs. Here are the top 10 running backs for Week 2.
1. New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara
Kamara followed up an excellent 2017 with a huge 33-point fantasy performance in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. The dual threat runner is clearly going to be a huge portion of the Saints' offense with Mark Ingram out.
In Week 2, Kamara gets to play at home against a Cleveland Browns team that just gave up a whopping 28 fantasy points to James Connor.
2. Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley
The Rams star continued where he left off last season by rushing for more than 100 yards and catching three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Gurley should continue to be the focal point of this offense and will be a huge part of the game plan against a Cardinals team that couldn't stop anybody on the Redskins last week.
3. Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon
If you watched the Buffalo Bills attempt to play football last week, you already know they can't. This is likely to be a blowout in which Melvin Gordon will have plenty of opportunities to run the ball against a shaky Buffalo Bills defense.
Expect a big game for the Chargers star RB in Week 2.
4. Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot
The Cowboys running back managed to salvage his fantasy day by scoring a touchdown late against the Panthers. This week should be easier for Elliot, as he draws a Giants rushing defense that is nowhere close to the caliber of Carolina's.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner/Le'Veon Bell
It's not yet clear if Le'Veon will be making his return to the Steelers in Week 2, but if he does, he is a top five fantasy back. If not, Conner is still a top five fantasy back against the Chiefs thanks to his role as Pittsburgh's lead running back.
6. Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson
Johnson was held entirely in check by the Redskins in Week 1, but he still managed to score 12 fantasy points. In Week 2, the Cardinals play a very tough defense in the Rams. They will need to lean on Johnson to slow down that fearsome pass rush, which should result in a decent fantasy day for Johnson.
7. Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard
Howard may not have scored a touchdown in Week 1 against the Packers, but he did prove that he is the main man for the Bears. Howard rushed 15 times for 82 yards and also added five catches for 25 yards. He wasn't even part of the receiving game last year, so those catches are encouraging. He draws an excellent matchup in Week 2 against a Seahawks defense that is no longer scary.
8. Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson
The Redskins running back had a resurgent day against the Cardinals, rushing for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown. He also had 70 yards receiving. In Week 2, Peterson draws a favorable matchup against a Colts defense that just allowed almost 100 yards rushing to Joe Mixon.
9. Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey
The Panthers running back didn't have the best debut against a strong Dallas defense, rushing for just 50 yards on 10 carries. He did have 45 receiving yards, but fumbled once, and had just seven fantasy points. He is primed for a bounce back game in Week 2 against a Falcons defense that couldn't stop Jay Ajayi in Week 1.
10. Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt
Hunt struggled in Week 1 against the Chargers, scoring just four fantasy points on the day. He did receive 16 carries, but it's a bit concerning that he split time with Spencer Ware, who is going to be involved in the Chiefs' offense. Hunt is still a solid fantasy running back, but he does have a tough matchup against the Steelers' strong defense in Week 2.
