Ben Stokes replaced Sam Curran in the XI announced on Friday, as England take on India in the third test at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham starting on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Live updates:

India 272/4 - Kohli 76*

India 184/3

Toss will take place at 3 PM IST.

The first day's play will be starting at 11:00 AM GMT, 3:30 PM IST.

England is leading the five-match series 2-0, having won the second test last week at the Lord's by an innings and 159 runs. India would be cautious knowing that another loss might take the series away from them.

India currently holds the Pataudi Trophy after winning the last series 4-0 in 2016. India is also the No.1 Test team in the world. The hosts, on the other hand, led by Joe Root will see this as an opportunity to seal the series completely, as Trent Bridge has been a happy hunting ground for them.

Pant might make his test debut

The Indians have some thinking to do going into this test. One change is obviously confirmed considering the surface in Trent Bridge and that is Jasprit Bumrah, who has fully recovered from his injury, should come in place of Kuldeep Yadav.

Another change that Virat Kohli and co. might make is that of Rishabh Pant replacing Dinesh Karthik as the wicket-keeper.

A report on Cricbuzz suggests that the captain and coach spent a lot of time with the 20-year old during the practice session which might indicate his selection in the third test.

Seaming conditions expected in Nottingham

England announced their side a day before the start of the third test. According to ESPNcricinfo, all-rounder Ben Stokes will be replacing Sam Curran, who has been impressive so far in this series.

Ben Stokes missed the second test due to his court hearing regarding a brawl near a bar in Bristol last year. Ben Stokes was found not guilty in the act and immediately joined the squad ahead of their practice at Nottingham.

The pitch at Trent Bridge hasn't been at it's best as far as the batting is concerned but definitely been a paradise for the seamers. As per reported by Cricbuzz, the pitch might offer good swing early in the test, while the batting might not be as difficult as the Lord's test. The weather forecast in Nottingham seems to be alright with a bright and sunny weekend on the cards.
