The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have faced off in the NBA Finals in all four of the past four years and solidified their rivalry as one of the greatest in NBA history. In 2015 they met for the first time when LeBron took his talents back to Cleveland and led the young team to the Finals. But injuries to key players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love held the Cavaliers back in a big way, and they lost the series in 6 games. The next year, both teams made it back to the Finals yet again, and we saw the best seven-game series of their rivalry unfold with the Cleveland Cavaliers led by superstars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the series in game seven.

After this series, the whole rivalry changed with former MVP and scoring champion Kevin Durant deciding to join the Golden State Warriors after a plea from Draymond Green over the phone, and the Warriors became the most overpowered NBA team of all time. They went on to win the 2017 and 2018 Finals in dominating fashion, with a gentleman’s sweep followed by a sweep.

And as we reach the 2018 offseason, LeBron James has a big choice to make. Does he stay loyal to Cleveland but quite possibly lose every year to the Warriors in the Finals, or does he join another team with other superstars in attempt to win another championship? Shaq had his say.

Shaq thinks LeBron wants championships

LeBron James has played 15 seasons in the league and made the NBA Finals nine times including eight straight trips over the last eight years.

Pretty dominant. However, he has always faced a huge challenge in the Finals and has been unable to overcome it a fair few times. With the Warriors creating a superteam that nobody had a chance of competing against, Stephen Curry has now won three NBA championships and put his name in the history books as one of the greats.

However, does it agitate LeBron that he has been there to first-hand witness Steph win all three of those, and now has as many rings as he does?

Shaq believes so and thinks the King will make a move in this offseason to better his chance at winning more titles.

“He has three rings. His mentality now is probably: I want to get four before Steph (Curry) does.”

Will it happen?

When Stephen Curry and LeBron James’ careers come to an end, it will be interesting to see who has more NBA titles.

With both all-stars sitting back with three championships right now and the possibility of facing each other in the future a few more times to battle for a ring, it will be a battle to see who wins more championships. And the decision LeBron will make during this offseason will be a huge factor in deciding this.
