After rain played the spoilsport on Day 1 on Ireland's Test debut against Pakistan, it is a bright and sunny day, to begin with on day 3 at the Mahalide Stadium, Dublin. The Irish captain William Porterfield won the toss and opted to bowl first expecting to trouble the Pakistan batsmen with early swing.
The third day's play will start on May 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM GMT or 3:30 PM IST.
Live updates Day 3:
Ireland 30/4
Pakistan 310/9 declared
Day 2: Pakistan 268/6 in 76 overs.

Ten players from Ireland made their test debut, as Boyd Rankin had played Test cricket for England earlier.
For Pakistan, Imam-ul-Haq and Faheem Ashraf made their test debuts.
Some disciplined bowling from the Irish new ball attack saw two of the Pakistani openers getting out by the ninth over, leaving their side struggling at 13 for the loss of two wickets. Haris Sohail (31 runs), Asad Shafiq (62 runs), Babar Azam (14 runs) and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (20 runs) kept the scoreboard moving but not effectively.

At the end of the second session, Pakistan was in deep trouble as Ireland got them to 159-6. At this point, Shadab Khan and debutant Faheem Ashraf joined for a partnership which kept Pakistan somewhat in the day's play.
They batted with an attacking instinct and kept the flow of runs.
They compiled a partnership of 109 runs as the score reached to 268-6 after 76 overs. At this moment, umpires had to stop the play due to bad light. Shadab (52 runs) and Faheem (61 runs) stayed unbeaten for the day.
For Ireland, Tim Murtagh (2 for 33), Boyd Rankin (2 for 58) and Stuart Thompson (2 for 51) bowled excellently to keep the Pakistan batsmen in check throughout, except in the final session.

What to expect on Day 3:
If there is no further rain, we might get to see the entire day's play. Pakistan would like to get through the morning session and target 400 runs in this innings, while Ireland would expect to get them bowled out for somewhere in the range of 300 to 350.
