A recent wave of WWE rumors involving a John Cena and Nikki Bella break up has sent the professional wrestling world into a frenzy, as well as fans of 'Total Divas,' and 'Total Bellas.' It appears the power couple has officially decided to split up after a six-year relationship. That included a huge 'WrestleMania' moment last year in which John Cena got down on one knee.

A report on Sunday evening from Cageside Seats revealed that not only were media outlets reporting on this situation but that both John Cena and Nikki Bella also made interesting social media references.

Nikki reposted a quote from US Weekly that she and Cena gave as their official comment to the publication. They mention it was a difficult decision but they still have a lot of love and respect for each other. They also requested privacy during the latest event. John Cena also posted an Instagram quote from Walt Whitman saying, "We were together. I forget the rest."

Romance

The WWE stars were part of a six-year romance that began backstage and as part of the life on the road that top superstars in the company are part of. That relationship ended up the material that was eventually used on E! reality television programs "Total Divas" and "Total Bellas," both of which have aired for several seasons now.

Not only did the couple's relationship get the spotlight on those TV shows but also during a major moment on "the grandest stage of them all." During 'WrestleMania 33' last year, the duo competed as a tag team against real-life husband and wife The Miz and Maryse Mizanin. Cena and Nikki won the match and afterward, Cena made his official proposal to Nikki for marriage.

She, of course, said "Yes," and from there the rumors started about when the wedding might take place.

More recent WWE rumors suggested the couple was dealing with some relationship issues. Nikki Bella returned to the ring for this past January's first-ever women's 'Royal Rumble' match and was the second-to-last competitor remaining the ring.

Cena has continued to compete in several matches, including a huge match at 'WrestleMania 34' a week ago where he lost to The Undertaker.

Other assignments

The two stars are also involved in other endeavors aside from the WWE and their TV shows. Nikki Bella has involvement in the fashion world with a lingerie line with her sister Brie. John Cena is taking on roles in major movies as well as other projects as he winds down his WWE career.

One has to wonder how this will all unfold not only on the reality programs that the relationship was featured on but also on WWE programming. Will it now become used for heel opponents to taunt Cena or Nikki? WWE has never shied away from that sort of storyline, but for now, it seems Nikki and Cena will be moving past this huge part of their lives.
