In one of the biggest surprises of the 2017-18 season so far, NBA superstar isaiah thomas was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers just hours before the trade deadline. He was traded with power forward Channing Frye and for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr from LA. This trade sent a lightning strike through the league and had fans and players talking.

It all started in the 2017 NBA offseason when after a 4-1 loss to the Kevin Durant led Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals, NBA all-star Kyrie Irving demanded to be traded from Cleveland. It took some time but before the 2017-18 season could begin, the Cavs granted this and traded Kyrie to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder.

This seemed like a great trade for the Cavs at first, but throughout the struggles of the 2017-18 season, a lot of people were starting to second guess the trade, and so did the Cavs organization. It didn’t take long, and just after returning from injury and playing 15 games, Thomas was traded.

Thomas’ new home

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers agreed to a trade on Thursday afternoon that sent all-star Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers for 25-year old Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. With this trade, the Cavaliers are obviously looking towards the future and looking at young energetic talent, the Cavs have no interest in waiting for players to find their stride and no time for veterans.

For Isaiah Thomas, this is nothing new for him, he was drafted to the NBA with the 60th overall draft pick but was traded by the team that drafted him the Sacramento Kings in 2014. After spending a year with the Phoenix Suns he was once again traded, this time to the Boston Celtics.

He felt like he finally found a home in Boston, but the unexpected happened and he ended up being traded once again, this time to the defending Eastern Conference champions, however, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He once again felt like he found a home, and was given time to recover from a hip injury, but since his return has not played the same and been a defensive liability for The Land, and just like that he has been traded once again, this time to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Isaiah responds to trade

Isaiah Thomas was starstruck by the trade and did not have anything to say initially.

But just 12 hours since the trade, he has had time to process it and has given a response to it over Twitter. Isaiah did not have anything bad to say about the Cleveland Cavaliers, their organization or their players despite recent things that have been said. Isaiah kept a positive mindset and looked forward to the future with two tweets sent out on Thursday night.

Isaiah’s stint didn’t last very long in Cleveland, but at least he was appreciative of the time he spent there and the opportunity to play with players like LeBron James, Kevin Love, Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose. Hopefully, Thomas can return to his
