The 2018 College Football National Championship Game is set to take place this evening when the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide take on the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

This game could be one for the ages as these two powerhouses prepare to meet up on the gridiron just hours from now, however, no matter who wins or loses, the one constant is that the SEC conference will once again crown the next CFP champion.

The SEC has claimed nine of the last 12 college football championships as a conference - which is nothing short of pure domination.

The latest odds

Las Vegas oddsmakers have favored the Crimson Tide right from the get-go in this winner take all matchup, and the betting public is right on board. Oddsmakers are expecting a close contest, installing Alabama as a 3.5-point favorite at the open. That line has since grown to 4.5 or even a solid 5 depending on which sportsbook you look at.

Stats favor Alabama, Saban

Some fans love stats, some think they are overhyped. Like them or not, this stat is staggering.

Nick Saban just doesn’t lose to former Bama coaches. Saban is a perfect 11-0 vs. his former sideline mates, winning each contest by a total of 14 points or more.

ESPN tweeted out earlier today the incredible record Saban has produced during his time at Alabama. Tonight may be a bit of a different story.

Why the Dawgs are the solid play

Alabama is a Football machine, this everyone knows. However, beating a Clemson team last week that lost a ton of talent to the NFL last season isn’t saying much. The Tigers were their own worst enemy by turning the ball over and failing to make key plays, dropping passes, and not converting on 2nd or 3rd down and less than three.

Georgia has the players to break down the Tide defense, as long as they don’t make the critical mistakes that the Tigers did.

Georgia's elite backfield tandem of Sony Michel, who posted gaudy numbers of 181 yards and three touchdowns, along with Nick Chubb, who ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, will both be ready for the tonight’s challenge against the Tide.

Fromm is the difference maker

Football fans all know that for their team to win a title, odds are the final results will come down the team's quarterback. At Georgia, Freshman QB Jake Fromm is doing things a rookie should not do. Almost 2,400 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns to just five interceptions, and a QB rating of - wait for it - 166.4. That is insane! Fromm plays well above his years and should be on target for this game as well.

If he plays well, the Dawgs will be the 2018 national champions.

Prediction

This game may come down to the final play, that is why the points are too tempting! Georgia +5 looks solid and don't be surprised if they win this game outright.

Pick: Georgia +5

Kickoff is scheduled for just after 8 p.m. ET tonight. The game will air on ESPN and can be seen streaming live online through Watch ESPN.
