The Chicago Bulls hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night at United Center in Chicago. It was a fully packed arena with more than 21,000 fans in the stands. Most of them came to see their Bulls play, but it was also an opportunity for fans in Chicago to watch LeBron James and witness his greatness.
The Bulls came into Monday's matchup after losing eight straight games, while the Cavaliers entered the game as winners of 11 straight games.
It ended up being a one-sided affair as the Cavaliers dominated the Bulls from the opening tip. They celebrated an easy, 113-91 victory and LeBron James put on a show as usual.
LeBron disrespected by a fan during the game
James finished the game with 23 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in 34 minutes of playing time. He was 9-of-15 from the field as he put yet another efficient, and a good all-around performance. But even though his numbers were solid, and his team won, it was something else that happened during this game that caught the attention of the NBA world.
Late in the game, the winner was already decided as the Cavaliers held a 20-point lead and the coach decided to rest LeBron James and put him on the bench.
James was sitting on the bench next to his teammates Kevin Love and Jae Crowder, and then a strange thing happened. A fan that was sitting close to the Cavs bench started yelling at LeBron and trolling him. It was an odd situation, primarily because James decided to fire back at the fan as he seemed annoyed by his comments and remarks.
James not backing down
The fan made a couple of comments about LeBron's hairline and Kyrie Irving, and that seemed to bother 'The King.' "Where's your hairline now? You lost Kyrie, you lost Rose. You can't keep a point guard four your life." said the fan to LeBron. The whole incident was recorded on video, as James obviously said to this fan: "I hope that is not your girlfriend next to you because she's filming me!"
Over the past couple of years, we've become used to seeing fans heckle players in the NBA, especially superstars like LeBron James.
But we've rarely seen LeBron James respond in these kinds of situations. Luckily for everybody involved, it all ended without any major conflict.
Nevertheless, James is having arguably the best season of his career so far. He is averaging 28.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. If his Cavaliers keep on winning, and he continues to put up numbers like these, James could be on his way to winning his fifth league-MVP award.
