So far, six Free Agents have agreed to new deals that will pay them at least $10 million annually. With players such as J. D. Martinez, Eric Hosmer, Yu Darvish, and Jake Arrieta still on the market, that number is sure to grow as the offseason continues.
Here are those six players in order from most to least and what their new contracts will pay them annually.
1. Carlos Santana, Philadelphia Phillies - 3 years, $60 million ($20 million/year)
After eight seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Santana will play first base for the Phillies in 2018. He hit 23 home runs and 37 doubles while batting .259 last year. Turning 32 on April 8, Santana also walked 88 times and has averaged 98.4 bases on balls the past six seasons.
2. Wade Davis, Colorado Rockies - 3 years, $52 million ($17.33 million/year)
Davis saved 32 games with the Cubs in 2017 and finished with a 2.30 ERA. The 32-year-old closer has been named an All-Star each of the last three years and has a microscopic 1.45 ERA over the last four seasons (first three with the Kansas City Royals).
T3. Tyler Chatwood, Chicago Cubs - 3 years, $38 million ($12.67 million/year)
The 28-year-old Chatwood went 8-15 with a 4.69 ERA last season with the Rockies in 33 games (25 starts). He was better from 2013-16 (didn't pitch in 2015) with Colorado when he had a 21-14 record and a 3.65 ERA in 51 starts.
T3. Zack Cozart, Los Angeles Angels - 3 years, $38 million ($12.67 million/year)
Cozart was named an All-Star in 2017 in what was easily his best of seven seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. The shortstop hit .297 with 24 home runs, 24 doubles, and seven triples. The 32-year-old was just a .246 career hitter entering last season.
5. Brandon Morrow, Chicago Cubs - 2 years, $21 million ($10.5 million/year)
Morrow was outstanding for the Los Angeles Dodgers out of the bullpen in 2017. In 45 appearances, he had a 2.06 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. The 33-year-old did not give up a single home run in his 43.2 innings last season.
6. CC Sabathia, New York Yankees - 1 year, $10 million ($10 million/year)
The 37-year-old Sabathia will rejoin the Yankees for his 10th season in pinstripes after signing a one-year deal. The 17-year veteran went 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 27 starts for the Yankees in 2017. He has a 3.81 ERA in 57 starts over the last two seasons after struggling with a combined 4.81 ERA in 69 starts from 2013-15.
