#LeBron James is 12 games through his 15th season in the league, and as a nearly 33-year old veteran player with over 50,000 minutes of mileage to his name, most would expect his career to be on the decline. But LeBron has defied the odds over the past few seasons when fans and the media started to expect the King to go downhill. Last season averaging career high’s in rebounds and assists, and this season setting the Cavaliers all-time record for points by an individual in a game, it’s obvious ‘the chosen one’ is not on the downfall, instead headed upwards.
LeBron recently talked to SLAM Magazine about his position at this point in his career, and how he looks forward to the rest of his career while taking in what he has done up to this point in his career.
LeBron also spoke about his desire to still win championships and how it fuels him to keep going and keep motivated as each season goes by.
LeBron wants more rings
With NBA legends including Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar all having five or six NBA championship rings, it leaves LeBron still very motivated to keep winning chips and to further his legacy in the NBA. Although it’s a well-known fact that championships don’t define a players career as it is a team sport, comparisons are always made between all-time players and the word ‘rings’ is always brought up. LeBron has always been a winner, he has never liked to lose, it has been that way since he was a child. So he stays hungry as an NBA professional. King James said:
"I'm still in championship mode, which I've been in for a long time… One thing I guarantee is that you give it your all… at the end of the day, you put yourself in a position where you can compete for a championship.”
Every season LeBron talks about putting his team in position to win games and to win championships.
He admits that no matter win or lose if he puts it all out on the floor and gives his team the best possible chance to win the basketball game, he is satisfied with the result.
No decline for the King
LeBron James spends millions of dollars every season to keep his body in tip-top condition and to stay healthy, free from injury. Not many players are this dedicated, but it proves LeBron’s will to stay a top athlete in the world and keep his mark as the best player in the NBA. He wants to stay at the top for as long as possible to further his legacy and chase his goal of being the greatest to ever do it. LeBron said:
"For me, I want to maximize my potential. Every year, while I'm still loving the game at this level, I still love to train... compete, I still love the league... And I have no signs of slowing down. I'm gonna keep it going for as long as I can."
LeBron will try to be the best player in the league for the next few seasons, and keep his position as the face of the National Basketball Association.
His love for the game is still there and he works on his craft each and every day. #King James is a true testament to hard work and its pay off. #Basketball Player
