Wednesday night features an NBA doubleheader on national television with a nightcap game featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. The two teams have been mentioned as early contenders in the Western Conference that aren't the Golden State Warriors. San Antonio is returning much of last year's lineup but is awaiting word on their NBA MVP finalist Kawhi Leonard. Meanwhile, Minnesota is among the exciting teams this season based on offseason moves. Here's a look at tonight's Timberwolves vs. Spurs game including odds to win, points total, TV channel, start time, and how to watch it on live stream.

Game preview

One of the first teams to make major moves during the NBA offseason was the Minnesota Timberwolves. After weeks of rumors regarding former Bulls All-Star Jimmy Butler, he was traded on NBA Draft night to the Wolves. Minnesota seemed to get a great deal too as they sent Zach Lavine, Kris Dunn, and a lottery pick over to the Bulls. In exchange, they've added one of the top players in the NBA. In addition, Minnesota added former OKC Thunder and Bulls player Taj Gibson as well as NBA free agent Jeff Teague. Those veteran players are now mixed in with young stars Karl Anthony-Towns and Andrew Wiggins on a team that could surprise fans this coming season.

Minnesota will see how their new roster additions fare against one of the top teams in the West over the past several seasons, the San Antonio Spurs.

Heading into their opening game of the season, San Antonio has All-Star small forward Kawhi Leonard still listed as "day-to-day." The team kept Leonard out of their preseason games after the injury he suffered during the 2017 NBA Playoffs' Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

Leonard has come to be called the "best two-way player" in the NBA and was an NBA MVP Finalist last season.

Will he be healthy enough to get going soon and if so, is this his season to win the award? While Leonard may not be on the floor tonight, the team also recently signed LaMarcus Aldridge to a contract extension and signed NBA free agent Rudy Gay as part of the roster. Gregg Popovich has always shown the ability to get the most out of whichever players are available for his team at the moment making this an intriguing matchup.

For tonight's odds, the point spread is just 1.5 points in favor of the home team. San Antonio is also -125 on the moneyline, while the Timberwolves are +105 underdogs. The over/under points total is 203.5 points for the complete game.
