The Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 102-92 on October 20. Despite struggling at the Free Throw Line, the Celtics played a good all-around game. They shot 41.7 percent from the field, 34.5 percent on three-pointers, and 68.8 percent from the free throw line. Aaron Baynes started at center contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in 14 minutes.
Simmons records a double-double
Ben Simmons played a decent game for the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite losing, Simmons was able to contribute 11 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 37 minutes.
He shot 36.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line against the Boston Celtics. Simmons is showing an incredible talent for a rookie. He now has two double-doubles this season. If he can continue to play consistently well, he most likely will win the Rookie of the Year Award.
Markelle Fultz struggles with shot
Markelle Fultz had a very poor shooting night against the Boston Celtics. He only contributed six points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in18 minutes. Fultz has not been good this season while Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball are looking really good. He may need some time to adjust to the NBA level before we can see him play at a high level.
Al Horford hits three three-pointers
Al Horford had a very solid game for the Celtics. He contributed 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one block in 36 minutes. He only shot 31.3 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 100 percent from the free throw line. With Gordon Hayward out for the remainder of the NBA season, Al Horford will have to step up big time on the offensive end to help fill the void Gordon Hayward left.
Jaylen Brown cools down
After having two incredible scoring games, Jaylen Brown cools down against the Philadelphia 76ers. He only contributed nine points, eight rebounds, and two steals in 38 minutes. Brown only shot 30.8 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the arc. Jaylen did still grab eight rebounds despite his struggles.
Ben Simmons was likely to be the main factor on why Jaylen Brown struggles so much.
Kyrie Irving does a little bit of everything
Kyrie Irving helped the Boston Celtics in all areas of the floor against the 76ers. He contributed 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 36 minutes. He was 7-of-17 from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Irving finally had a solid game after two subpar games against Cleveland and Milwaukee. Irving has lots of work to do this season in order for him to lead the Celtics to a playoff spot.
