Teams continue to make roster moves as we head toward the beginning of the season. The following Players could be late round pickups for your fantasy team that could make an impact toward the middle of the season.
Chris Johnson
Johnson was a former runningback for the Tennessee Titans that spent the last two seasons with the arizona cardinals. Johnson was recently cut by the Arizona Cardinals. Johnson was likely going to be the backup to David Johnson, which meant that his role was going to be limited. Johnson could get picked up by a team that has running back depth issues.
For example, the Jacksonville Jaguars make perfect sense for Johnson. Leonard Fournette is an unproven rookie and might have an injury to start the season. TJ Yeldon is not a reliable running back, so Johnson could slide right in.
Matt Jones
Jones was let go by the Washington Redskins as Robert Kelly took over his job midway through the season. Jones has issues with fumbles as he has eight in two season. However, the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens could look into signing Jones according to Tristant Cockcroft of ESPN. Jones was effective when he held onto the ball, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
Brock Osweiler
This may sound crazy as Osweiler was cut by the Cleveland Browns, however, the Denver Broncos recently signed Osweiler.
Don't forget that two years ago, Osweiler guided the Broncos in Peyton Manning's absence, as the team eventually won their way to the Super Bowl. It's a different coach (as Gary Kubiak left for health reasons), but the Broncos were the team that Osweiler had his success with. Osweiler could get some consideration as a backup for your team if something happens to Trevor Siemian.
TJ Ward
Ward was released by the Broncos despite contributing to a top-ten offense. He was a three time Pro Bowler from 2013-2015. Where Ward latches onto, that defense should be in consideration for your team that week. Ward wasn't cut due to his talent, he was cut to save money toward the salary cap.
