On Saturday, the Cleveland Indians became just the second team since the Oakland Athletics in 2002 to win 17-straight games. On Sunday, they'll look to extend that winning streak to 18-straight as they take on the Baltimore Orioles yet again. The game will be witnessed on national television with plenty of sports fans checking it out to see if this Cleveland Indians team can keep it going. Here's the latest Orioles vs. Indians preview including matchup odds, Game Time, channel, and live streaming options.
Game preview
The Cleveland Indians are looking to sweep Baltimore in tonight's third game of their series, after outscoring them 9-2 in the first two games.
It's mentioned in an ESPN report that the Indians' starting pitchers have been stellar during this streak, going 15-0 with a 1.89 ERA. Tonight, Trevor Bauer (15-8, 4.39 ERA) takes the mound for Cleveland. The Indians are currently on pace to break the record set by the 2002 Oakland A's who won 20-straight games during their season.
On the opposing side, Jeremy Hellickson gets the start for the Baltimore Orioles. Hellickson is 8-8 for the season with a 5.26 ERA. The team is 71-71 and still within range of an MLB wild card spot. Currently, Baltimore is just three games behind the Minnesota Twins for the second of two AL Wild Card spots. However, the Orioles have also dropped three-straight games which haven't helped their cause.
After this series concludes, the Orioles will start a three-game road series with Toronto and then a four-game series at the New York Yankees. They'll return home Monday, September 18th to host the Red Sox for three games.
The Indians will try for the season sweep and 18th-straight win here tonight. After Baltimore, Cleveland moves on to a home series against the Detroit Tigers followed by another home series with the Kansas City Royals.
Odds Shark lists the Cleveland Indians as -190 to -200 favorites on the moneyline with a -1.5 runline tonight. The Orioles are +170 to +180 underdogs depending on the sportsbook. For the over/under runs total for the game, the current number is 9.5 runs for the complete game.
