Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant apologized for his Twitter comments about his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and their head coach Billy Donovan, calling them childish" and "idiotic." "I do regret using my former coach's name and the former organization I played for. That was childish. That was idiotic, all those types of words. I apologize for that,” Durant said, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Durant said he was pretty mad at himself for doing it, but he wanted to move on from the incident and “keep playing basketball."

Durant said the incident will not stop him from engaging with fans through social media, saying it’s a good and enjoyable way to connect with them. However, Durant said he’ll scale back a “little bit right now” on his social media activities and just focus on playing basketball.

Durant’s Twitter trouble started when a fan (@ColeCashwell) tweeted him, asking him to give one legitimate reason for leaving the Thunder other than getting a championship. Durant’s official account (@KDTrey5) then answered with a third-person reply, saying he didn’t want to play for Thunder head coach Donovan.

He added that the Thunder roster wasn’t good, aside from him and Russell Westbrook.

Durant admits secret Instagram account

With the way Durant replied, Twitter followers assumed that he has secret accounts that he uses to defend himself and forgot to switch to them before replying. Durant also addressed that issue, admitting that he has another Instagram account that he uses to engage friends and family and not to clap back at anyone.

Durant added that he uses Twitter to engage with fans, but he took it a little too far during the incident. The Warriors superstar said that it happens to him sometimes during basketball debates, but he doesn’t regret clapping back at anybody or engaging his fans via Twitter.

Haters, trolls targeting Durant

Since he left the Thunder and joined the Warriors last season, the 28-year-old Durant has become the favorite target of trolls and haters on social media. Durant said he received countless insults on social media for his decision that paid dividends after he won his first NBA title in June.

According to Kyle Boone of CBS Sports, Durant plans on having a tattoo of one of those insults. “I get the snake comment so many times, I might just tattoo one of those on my arm,” Durant told Complex's "Hot Ones" video series. Durant’s new Nike shoes also feature negative comments about him on the insoles, according to B/R Kicks.
