Fc Barcelona is the only team who have won all the first five La Liga matches this season. Barcelona finished off La Liga campaign last year on the second spot with 90 points - 3 points less than the Champions Real Madrid.
Barca couldn’t win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season. They lost to Italian giants Juventus in the semi-finals of the Champions League. However, they have so many things about the last season to be proud of. One of them is the historical comeback in the second leg match of the Champions League against French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona lost the first leg match of the quarter-final by 0-4 to hosting side PSG. Every football fans around the world had predicted that the Catalonians couldn't surpass the 0-4 deficit over PSG in the second leg match. Barca somehow managed to score three goals by 85th minute in the second leg match. They still needed three more goals in last five minutes to surpass the remaining deficit of three goals. It looked impossible against a tight defensive line of PSG, but goals from Neymar, Messi, and Sergi Roberto in last two minutes gave Barca a 6-5 lead over PSG, and they qualified for semi-finals.
How Barca can win 2017/18 La Liga title
Barca is already seven points clear of the defending Champions and the title favorites, Real Madrid.
Barca has won all of their La Liga games this season so far against Real Betis, Deportivo Alavés, Espanyol, Getafe, and Eibar.
Barca has only conceded two goals and scored 16 times so far in La Liga campaign. Messi alone has scored nine goals out of total team goals. Argentinian star striker has scored as many goals as scored by Real Madrid this season.
Poor start by Real Madrid has dragged them into a predicament situation. This is the only team that can restrict Barca from lifting this season’s La Liga title. But to do that, Madrid must improve their fluctuating performance as soon as possible.
Sevilla is trailing Barca on the points table, but they don’t have enough caliber to fight till the end and snatch the La Liga trophy from the Catalonians.
Only defending Champions Madrid can take over the first position from Barcelona if they improve their poor performance and win as many points as they can.
Players performing at their best for Barca
After a controversial departure of Neymar to PSG, it wasn't looking like Barca can play this good, but Barca’s new manager Ernesto Valverde dealt and discarded every problem so well.
With Messi playing at his best, new signing Paulinho also helping the team to retain their top position on the points table. Fans were in doubt initially, over the signing of 29 years old midfielder Paulinho from Chinese League. Fans thought how a 29 years old player playing in Chinese League could perform well in Spanish League and especially with Barcelona?
But Brazilian star Paulinho prooved critics wrong when he scored two goals in four games and only one of them he started. Paulinho is a specialized midfielder in breaking opponents defensive line. He performed outstandingly in Barca’s last game against Eibar. He scored and assisted once in that game.
In fact, every Barca players are performing at their best. It’s worth watching how far they can maintain this impressive form and an unbeaten run in La Liga.
