One of the biggest games in week three of the college football season was reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals welcoming the defending National Champion Clemson Tigers. Clemson was coming off a masterful defensive performance against Auburn, where they had 11 sacks. The defense stepped up once again, shutting down Jackson and allowing the offense to put up points. The Tigers were led by Kelly Bryant who had three total TDs. The Tigers dominated the Cardinals in all aspects of the game, beating them 47-21.

Dabo's defense

Head coach of the Tigers Dabo Swinney prides himself on being a tough team who plays excellent defense. After coming off a stellar performance against Auburn, many were wondering if his defense could put together an encore performance. They definitely did as they shut down one of the most electrifying players in college football. They held the high-flying Cardinal offense to a mere 21 points and 433 yards of total offense. Swinney knew how hard it was planning against Jackson, but he did his best to neutralize him. They limited Jackson's opportunities running the ball, as they hit him early and often.

Jackson still had a decent game, throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Where the Cardinals missed him most was on the ground, where he only had 64 yards. Jackson wasn't too accurate Saturday night as well, as he only completed 50 percent of his passes. He also committed the only turnover of the game, a lone interception. Jackson's repeat Heisman hopes definitely took a hit after being bombarded by the Tigers great defense.

Bryant's big night

Many people wondered what would Clemson do this season when Deshaun Watson left for the NFL. Many didn't know who the projected starter was for the Tigers this upcoming season. Kelly Bryant has been the QB for the Tigers, and tonight he let many viewers know how good he can be. Kelly threw for over 300 yards and one score.

He also showed his mobility, running for two more touchdowns. Bryant took advantage of the Cardinals' shaky defense and shredded them the entire night. Bryant has taken the reigns of this Clemson team and had complete control of the offense. Swinney had a lot of confidence in Kelly coming into the season and with Kelly's great performances, he feels pretty satisfied with his decision to start him.

Lamar Jackson couldn't find any answers against this Tigers defense, as the Cardinals fall to 0-4 all-time against Clemson. Clemson is picking up where they left off last season, starting off 3-0 this season. Both teams are expected to be in the College Football Playoff discussion at the end of the season, so fans might've just gotten a very early preview of a possible matchup.
