In the world of the NFL, the Miami Dolphins made news on two separate occasions during training camp while the Jets faced some bad news. Jay Cutler is going to Miami because of his wife, Jarvis Landry did not harm his girlfriend, and Quincy Enunwa is going on the injury reserved. Take a look as we dive deeper into these stories.
Cutler says wife convinced him
Jay Cutler just signed a one-year deal worth $10 million to take over as starting quarterback for the Dolphins due to the injured Ryan Tannehill. The former Chicago Bear and Denver Bronco quarterback retired months ago to begin his broadcasting career with FOX.
However, after conversations with coach Adam Gase, his former offensive coordinator when he played for the Bears, Cutler was persuaded to come to Miami.
It turns out that Gase was not the only influencing individual to persuade him to take his talents to Miami. Cutler said that his wife talked him into going more than anyone else. He even made a joke that she got tired of having him around the house. She just might be into the warm weather as well.
Landry's girlfriend makes statement
Jarvis Landry's girlfriend posted a statement that Landry never harmed her. Landry was under investigation for a battery incident that involved him and his girlfriend. In her statement, she says that the two had a heated argument where emotions were high.
She claimed that she did not call the police and that Landry would never harm her.
This is good news for the Dolphins. Miami's number one receiver had over 1,000 receiving yards last season and could have another big year with Cutler throwing to him. The Dolphins won't likely have to deal with a suspension with Landry. The Miami wideout was also in the news earlier for claiming that the Dolphins will beat the Patriots this year.
Enunwa placed on IR
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Quincy Enunwa was placed on the injured reserve list because of a neck injury that ended up being serious. He will need surgery for a bulging disc that will require a 6-8 month rehab. This means that the Jets lost their best receiver for the season. This is also unfortunate news for Enunwa as he is set to be a restricted free agent in 2018.
The injury for Enunwa means that the Jets lost all of their top receivers from last season. The team cut Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker to save money as the team faces a rebuilding year. The Jets were facing a rough season anyway and now their upcoming year took an even bigger blow. As of now, Robby Anderson might be the number on target for the Jets.
