Restricted free agent Nerlens Noel has finally agreed to resign with the Dallas Mavericks after not getting the major offer he was hoping for in free agency. Plus, Phoenix Suns point guard Brandon Knight had surgery on his knee and Manu Ginobili has agreed to a deal to once again come back and play for the San Antonio Spurs.

Noel finally signs Mavericks offer sheet

Yesterday Nerlens Noel signed his one-year, $4.1 million qualifying offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks, as the 23-year-old center bets on himself next offseason when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal and that Noel had turned down a large contract offer from the Mavericks on July 1st. Noel's former agent Happy Walters tweeted out that the Mavericks made Noel a four-year, $70 million, which he passed on taking.

The Mavericks traded for Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers at the trade deadline, giving up Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut, and two second-round picks. Noel played in 22 games with the Mavericks after being traded, starting 12 of them. He averaged 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1 steals per game while shooting 57.5% from the field.

Knight has surgery on torn ACL

Phoenix Suns point guard Brandon Knight finally had surgery on the torn ACL in his left knee on Thursday. This came about one month after he suffered the injury during a charity pro-am basketball game in Miami. Last season with the Suns, Knight averaged 11 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds and 0.5 steal in 54 games. He also had one of the worst shooting years of his career, going 39.8% from the field and 32.4% on three-pointers. Knight is still under contract with the Suns for three more seasons with a contract that is worth $44 million.

Ginobili decides to put off retirement

The ageless Manu Ginobili and the San Antonio Spurs agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal on Thursday, with terms first being reported by The Vertical.

This season will be the 16th for the 40-year-old, who said last month that he would be returning to the team. In returning, Ginobili will become only the eighth player in NBA history to play with one team for at least 16 seasons.

He will also play in his 1,000th game this season, as he is only eight away from the mark. Last year, Ginobili played in 69 games and averaged 18.7 minutes per game. He averaged 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 39% from the field and 39.2% on three-pointers.
