The Nebraska football team is waiting with baited breath for Monday afternoon. After talk that one of its top wide receiver targets was going to be committing in the next few days, that target announced himself on Sunday that Monday was indeed the day.

Cameron Brown announced on his official Twitter feed that he will be making his pick between five schools on August 7. Why is today that day? Because it's also his father's birthday. It appears Brown wants to give his father the gift of peace of mind, knowing where his son is going to be attending college.

Now the Nebraska football team just has to hope Brown wants to give his father something red and white as an additional gift.

Nebraska football commit tweets at, then deletes overture

While there are quite a few people who think the Huskers are the odds on favorite to win Brown's commitment, reading the tea leaves is still difficult with this recruit. Brown, of course, was a Cornhusker at one point this summer. He later decided he didn't want to make a commitment just yet. This announcement came after he visited an Ohio State camp and many people thought he was moments away from becoming a Buckeye.

The commitment to OSU never materialized, which was, of course, good news for the Nebraska football team.

The Huskers aren't out of the woods yet though, as Ohio State is one fo the five schools Brown will be choosing between.

One wrinkle in this whole saga is a tweet that current Husker commit Joshua Moore sent out and has subsequently deleted.

Moore made what seemed like a pretty innocuous overture to Brown, telling him he should come to Nebraska. The question now is why the receiver would eventually delete that tweet. Did Brown tell him something that led him to decide to erase the tweet? We'll find out on Monday afternoon.

The big hill Nebraska football has to climb

With five schools still in the running for Brown's service, there is likely going to be some fingernail chewing on Monday afternoon. Not only is Ohio State still in the mix but so is home state team Missouri, Georgia, and Alabama. Anytime the Crimson Tide are in the mix, fans of the other teams have to be a bit nervous.

Alabama already took one of the top Nebraska football targets away from the Huskers this weekend. Cameron Latu announced on Friday he was headed to 'Bama. We'll find out at 1 pm CST whether Cameron Brown is following suit and adding yet another of the top players in the entire 2018 class in Tuscaloosa.
