With the WWE "SummerSlam" 2017 pay-per-view coming up in a few months, the WWE seems to be scheduling some big matches for the card. It's already known that the WWE Universal title will be on the line, with either Brock Lesnar or Samoa Joe defending the belt. Earlier rumors have indicated the matchup could feature "The Beast" against Roman Reigns, but that will depend on how the "Great Balls of Fire" PPV goes. However, there's another Big Match that appears to be part of the card, featuring two "SmackDown Live" superstars. Here are the latest rumors and possible spoilers.

Rumored match

It's being reported by some pro wrestling websites out there that Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles could lock up in the ring at the WWE "SummerSlam" PPV. The two competitors have competed before within New Japan Wrestling and are quite familiar with one another making for an intriguing matchup.

Not only that, but fans were treated to an early preview of what this match could be like. Styles and Nakamura featured prominently in the finish for the men's "Money in the Bank" Ladder Match. Both men were close to retrieving the "MITB" briefcase towards the end of the match, but "The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin spoiled their chances by knocking the ladder over.

There had been previous rumors that Shinsuke would lock up with Sami Zayn, as the two put on a great match back in their NXT days for Nakamura's debut.

However, WWE "SummerSlam" is one of the WWE's biggest events of the year and the anticipation of a Styles vs. Nakamura match would drive up interest.

That said, this would be a huge matchup for the summer spectacle. The two competitors were projected to face one another at "WrestleMania 34" but now it appears WWE has moved that plan up, along with the possible Universal title match.

Other possible matches

A lot will be known based on what happens at the "Raw" pay-per-view next weekend "Great Balls of Fire" and the WWE "SmackDown" exclusive "Battleground" PPV. Most likely, Jinder Mahal will still have his World Championship and quite possibly John Cena will take him on for it. However, Cena is being promoted as a "free agent" so that could make things interesting.

In addition, there will be WWE rumors on the way for all of the other championship matches. Will Alexa Bliss, Naomi, The Usos, Neville, The Miz, Kevin Owens, Sheamus and Cesaro all have their titles heading to the "SummerSlam" PPV? Fans will have a clearer picture of who the champions are and who their top challengers are after the next batch of WWE pay-per-view events.
