NBA free agency is closing in on its second week wrapping up, as day eleven has already come and gone. This day saw the Atlanta Hawks sign a former Spur and the Detroit Pistons add two players to their team. Plus, the New York Knicks revealed Ron Baker's contract and the Denver Nuggets parted ways with a veteran.
Dedmon goes from Spurs to Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks and fourth-year center DeWayne Dedmon have agreed to a two-year, $14 million deal, which includes a player option for the second year.
Dedmon declined a $3 million player option to stay with the San Antonio Spurs, who had their second-best defensive rating with him on the floor, only giving up 97.5 points per 100 possessions. Last season, his only one with the Spurs, Dedmon played in 76 games, starting 37 of them. He averaged 5.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.5 steals while shooting 62.2% from the field.
Pistons resign Bullock and bring back Tolliver
The Detriot Pistons resigned Reggie Bullock to a two-year, $5 million deal, with the first year being guaranteed. The 25-year-old is suspended for the first five games of the upcoming season for violating the NBA's drug policy.
He is also injury prone, having only played in 68 games in his two seasons with the team. Last year Bullock averaged 4.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists while shooting 42.2% from the field and 38.4% on three-pointers.
Veteran Anthony Tolliver is also returning to Detriot, where he played for two seasons before spending last year with the Sacramento Kings. The team and Tolliver agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. Last season the 31-year-old averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 44.2% from the field and 39.1% on three-pointers.
Details of Ron Baker's contract revealed
A few days ago when the New York Knicks signed Tim Hardaway Jr. to that giant contract, they had to renounce their rights to Ron Baker and pull his qualifying offer from the first day of free agency.
However, reports were that they had worked out a new deal shortly after, which has now been announced. Baker and the Knicks agreed to a two-year, $8.9 million deal, which includes a player option for the second year.
Nuggets part ways with Mike Miller
The Denver Nuggets have waived veteran small forward Mike Miller after two-years with the team. By waiving Miller before July 12 his $3.5 million contract was not guaranteed and the team now has $5 million in cap space to work with. Last season with the Nuggets, the 37-year-old only played in 20 games for the team. He averaged 1.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 39.1% from the field and 40% on three-pointers.
