The 2017 college football season is right around the corner! Yes, it is getting to be that time of year again. Back to campus, leaves changing colors, and of course another season of NCAA football. Las Vegas sportsbooks have released the odds for the Top 10 teams they believe will be fighting it out for a playoff spots this November, and here they are.

Alabama once again No. 1 on oddsmakers boards

According to the latest odds from online sportsbook Bovada, the Alabama Crimson Tide have the best odds of making the 2017 NCAA football playoffs. The Tide are the only team listed in the top 10 favorites that are minus money when it comes to making the CFP.

Alabama is the top dog at -250.

Right behind Alabama in a two-way tie for second place at -140 are the Florida State Seminoles and USC Trojans. No. 4 is Ohio State at +150, followed by Oklahoma at +250 in the fifth spot. The No. 6 overall favorite contains a three-way tie between the LSU Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions, and, Washington Huskies at +400.

It will be interesting to see how Penn State plays in 2017. The Nittany Lions are coming off their best season (11-3) in a decade. They are no longer one of the teams that will be considered to be the “hunter” in the Big Ten conference. They are now one of the “hunted!” As for LSU, they will start the season for the first time in 12 years with someone else other than Les Miles running the show.

Harbaugh feeling pressure to win Big Ten Title?

At No. 9 are the Michigan Wolverines. Head coach Jim Harbaugh will be entering his third season at his alma mater, and he has been a huge factor in making Michigan football relevant once again. Coach Harbaugh has put Michigan back on the map in terms of wins and losses. However, year three may be his biggest challenge yet.

The Wolverines have finished 10-3 two seasons in a row under Harbaugh - but they have failed to beat Ohio State in Harbaugh's first two matchups as head coach.

Somehow, someway, Harbaugh hopes to get Michigan over the 10-win hump, and into the NCAA postseason. 11 wins in the Big Ten should do it, especially if Michigan defeats Florida and Ohio State.

The Wolverines will be tested right off the bat in 2017, as they open the new season against the Florida Gators on September 2.

Last but not least are the Auburn Tigers at +600. The Tigers are another team that other squads can’t overlook in 2017. Like Michigan, they may be a bit underrated heading into the new season this fall.

If oddsmakers were correct and the top favorites held serve all season long, the postseason would feature an Alabama vs. Ohio State matchup in the Sugar Bowl, and Florida State facing USC in the Rose Bowl.
