The Golden State Warriors reclaimed their NBA Championship title after a devastating loss last year to the Cleveland Cavaliers where they led 3-1 in the series. There are rumors that a trade between Kevin Love and New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony might solve the problem of the Cavaliers facing the Warriors.

FOX Sports, Andrew Lynch reported that even with the friendship Melo and LeBron have, there is no way that the King will allow Kevin Love be traded with Melo in a one-for-one deal.

RealGM Trade Checker stated that the trade between Melo and Love might happen. This trade will suffice the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement if Melo waives his no-trade clause, so it can be done legally.

But this trade will result in the Cavaliers missing 5.2 rebounds per game from Love, which is one of the branches the Golden State Warriors excels in.

LeBron as one of the smartest players in the NBA still has the last say for the Cavaliers. On the other hand, Phil Jackson will be very willing to give off Melo for the 6'10" power forward.

Why would the king reject the idea of losing Love?

There has been a scoring drought for Love with the Cleveland Cavaliers, unlike his past playing years with the Timberwolves. For that reason, Love is not the first scoring option anymore. Having LeBron and Kyrie on a team with Kyle Korver and Smith, scoring for Love in big numbers will be difficult because all these players have a license to shoot.

This makes Love’s scoring drought justifiable. Kevin Love only has two options to score; it is when Kyrie or LeBron drives to the basket and passes it at the last second to Kevin Love or when Love gets the offensive rebound and forces his way in to score.

Another option for the Cavs to stop the reign of the Golden State Warriors

Trading another NBA Superstar with Kevin Love will not solve the Warriors’ puzzle. It will only result in an added third option for scoring. Another way to solve their problem with the Warriors is a trade perhaps with Tristan Thompson for DeMarcus Cousins that would give more defense and scoring to the Cavaliers.

CBS Sports wrote that James Herbert stated, adding "defensive free agents" might help them slow down the Warriors, with the free agency of Kyle Korver, Deron Williams, Derrick Williams, James Jones, and Dahntay Jones. The Cavs could fill their roster up with more defensive minded players.

If somehow, Cleveland GM, David Griffin finds a way to get DeMarcus Cousins in exchange for Tristan Thompson this would boost the Cavs chance of revenge. Having DeMarcus with the Cavs will give them a +18.9 point per game, +1.8 rebound per game and +3.6 assists per game addition.
