The Miami Heat rumors are picking up with the news that Gordon Hayward will meet with the team this coming weekend. With other teams as part of his free agency consideration including Eastern Conference No. 1 seed Boston Celtics, Miami is also on Hayward's shortlist. Will the Utah Jazz All-Star decide to play for Pat Riley's franchise as an NBA free agent or head elsewhere?

Miami meeting

There have been plenty of NBA rumors going around involving the latest free agents. They include Chris Paul who just joined the Houston Rockets earlier today, as well as his former teammate Blake Griffin from Los Angeles.

There's also Paul Millsap from the Atlanta Hawks, and of course, Utah's Gordon Hayward. He achieved a spot on the All-Star reserves in the West this past season and helped lead his team to the second round of the NBA Playoffs. They'd ultimately get swept by a superior Golden State Warriors team featuring four All-Star players.

The Miami Heat are strongly interested in acquiring Gordon Hayward for their roster. According to a Miami Herald report, the Heat will have a meeting with Hayward this weekend. Free agency officially opens on Saturday, July 1st as the first day players can engage in talks with prospective teams.

It's reported that Miami Heat rumors say the team will try their best to get Blake Griffin or Hayward as a free agent.

If the team fails to get either of these star players, then it's being said Miami will work on solidifying their current roster by re-signing free agents James Johnson and Dion Waiters, if possible.

Boston rumors

The NBA rumors that Gordon Hayward would head to the Boston Celtics have been strong over the past month or so. Part of what gave those rumors a boost is the fact that the Celtics have plenty of assets they can deal to free up salary or work out a trade with other teams.

In addition, Hayward formerly played his college basketball at Butler University under current Celtics head coach Brad Stevens.

If that wasn't enough, a social media post showing Hayward's wife carrying their baby girl sparked further speculation since it showed off Hayward's daughter in a green Celtics top. Was that just a fun photo, or a strong indication of where his family will go next?

If Hayward ends up with the Boston Celtics, it could also help them make a trade for Indiana Pacers' star Paul George, which would instantly elevate Boston's roster into a top contender with Golden State, Cleveland, and now Houston.
