It is as close to official as it can be before the draft actually happens, the prospected Number 1 draft pick Markelle Fultz will go to the 76ers. The Boston Celtics agreed to trade their number 1 overall selection in this year's draft to the number 3 overall pick, a first-round pick in 2018 that was from Los Angeles Lakers and a first-round pick from the Sacramento Kings that were offer by the 76ers to them. The deal finalized on Saturday night and the 76ers will choose Markelle Fultz for the number 1 pick reported by TNT's David Aldridge.

There are many teams that are eager to get the 6'4", 195 lbs, 19-year old University of Washington product star.

He scored a 40-inch vertical in his workout with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Why do the 76ers eager to pursue Fultz in this year's draft?

Markelle Fultz may only have played one season with the Washington Huskies but he finished sixth in the nation in scoring with the stat line 23.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.2 blocks per game, and shooting 41.3 percent from the 3-point line. His defense impressed the 76ers with the added 7-foot wingspan that would really come on handy. This is one of the reason the 76ers are willing to do in their power to get Markelle Fultz and successfully did it.

Fultz's addition to the 76ers' line-up will create a 1-3-5 combo of Fultz-Simmons-Embiid. With a good coaching and proper training this combo would be a powerful force in the near future in the NBA.

Celtics giving up the number 1 pick

The Celtics had a run in this year's regular season and in the playoffs. But they came up short in the Eastern Conference Finals and come up short to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Danny Ainge, Celtics President, expected that many of the teams will go after their number 1 pick. So he made sure that the Celtics gets the best offer for it.

But will this move of the Celtics haunt them and Fultz being a nightmare for them? They will play the 76ers four times as a team in Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

In the past

It is unusual to trade the number 1 pick days before the draft night, but it will happen this year. It last happened in the 2014 NBA Draft where the Cavaliers traded their number 1 pick Andrew Wiggins to the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire their star Kevin Love.

In this move the Cavaliers had the advantage upon Lebron's homecoming to Cleveland. This give the Cleveland their long hunger for championship. So who really did win in this year's deal between the 76ers and Celtics?
