Draymond Green is one of the most emotional players in NBA history, he racks up many technical fouls and flagrant fouls for his attitude on the basketball court, although recently he hasn't found himself in trouble. Draymond Green was suspended for game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals after receiving an abundant amount of technical and flagrant fouls throughout the 2015-16 season and playoffs, he reached the point in which a suspension was the only option. This was something that many people believe changed the series after the Cavs defeated Golden State without Green in game 5, although they still defeated them with Green in games 6 and 7.
A lot of people will point to the suspension as a reason for the Cavaliers victory over the record-breaking Warriors team. But this year it seems Draymond has been a little better behaved and is not facing the risk of being suspended again during the Finals, and with his team up 2-0 in the series, the odds are looking good for him.
Draymond Green's mother, Mary Babers recently joined the set of ESPN's First Take to talk about the NBA Finals and basketball. She discussed her son, the Warriors team, Kevin Durant and also made a few comments about LeBron James and the Cavaliers. Although she is not a Cavs fan, she supports her son's team, the Golden State Warriors, she still has respect for LeBron and the Cavs and even admitted to idolizing LBJ several years ago.
Mary said, "I used to be a LeBron fan, I will not lie. But hey I'm a warrior now so I gotta put that to the back burner". At the end of the day, you can't blame her for choosing to support her son over LeBron James when it comes to the NBA Finals.
Ms. Babers gives Cleveland a win, talks LeBron
While on television, Mary was asked if she believes her son's team, the Golden State Warriors can sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers and go 16-0 in the playoffs for the first time in NBA history.
Green's mother smiled and calmly stated "I want a sweep", but when interrogated about if she believes they will actually finish the series in four games, Mary said "I don't. I think the [Cavaliers] will get one".
As someone who respects LeBron James and his Cleveland group, Draymond's mother has enough knowledge about the NBA to know that the likelihood of a sweep, with games 3 and 4 being played at the Quicken Loans Arena, is unlikely.
Mary Baber also spoke about Draymond Green's suspension in the 2016 Finals and how King James got into Draymond's head, forcing him to carelessly lose his cool. Mary said:
"Well, Draymond is a trash talker. So what you do to another trash talker is figure out how to talk trash. So when you figure out what moves someone else, then you can use what they do against you, and I think that's what LeBron did."
Mary believes LeBron James strategically talked trash to get a reaction from her son and force him to lose his cool, and I guess, it worked. But that was last year, and this year Draymond is doing a better job at not making the same mistake.
The Cavaliers could surprise the media
All the NBA speculation right now is talking about the dominance of the Golden State Warriors and they're destroying the Cavaliers in the 2017 Finals.
A lot of people are even suggesting that GSW will sweep the Cavs. But this is exactly what happened last year in games one and two, and we all know that series eventually went to seven games, so for people to be saying the series is already over, is just stupid.
If the Cavaliers can snatch a victory in front of their home fans in their next two games at the Q, they will have tied the series at two games apiece while riding momentum heading into game 5. They will certainly need better production from players not named LeBron James and Kevin Love though, but if we do see it, the Warriors may be in panic mode once again. Most people will argue that it's different this year because Kevin Durant is the blue and white uniform, but at the end of the day, KD has never won a title, he doesn't know what it takes to win, James does.
