After its debut weekend at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the BIG3 basketball league 2017 has been considered an early success. There was a crowd of over 15,000 on hand to watch the new 3-on-3 league's first four games of the inaugural season. Among the former NBA stars taking to the court were Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby, Al Harrington, and "The Answer" Allen Iverson. Here's a look at the standings so far and the next weekend's action that's coming this Sunday.

Winners and losers

Each week of the BIG3 games, the eight teams stop in a new city.

The eight teams in the league play four different games. Each game goes until a team is the first to hit 60 points, winning by two. They typically play the games on Sundays, and Fox Sports 1 (FS1) televises them a day later.

In Week 1, four teams have already emerged as "undefeated" even though they only have 1-0 records. The3-Headed Monsters, Power, 3's Company, and Trilogy all have perfect records so far. It means that Ghost Ballers, Tri-State, Ball Hogs, and Killer 3s are winless, so far. That will all change when Week 2's slate arrives.

BIG 3 Week 1 standings:

  • Trilogy 1-0 (+15)
  • 3's Company 1-0 (+10)
  • Power 1-0 (+4)
  • 3-Headed Monsters 1-0 (+2)
  • Ghost Ballers 0-1 (-2)
  • Tri-State 0-1 (-4)
  • Ball Hogs 0-1 (-10)
  • Killer 3s 0-1 (-15)

As seen above, the mock standings feature the team's early win-loss records followed by points differentials to separate the squads.

Trilogy leads the pack due to their opening day 15-point win, while Killer 3s have some work to do as they were on the losing side of that equation.

BIG3 Stats studs

It's already known that player/coach Allen Iverson had a two-point outing in his first action back on the court. However, several other players came up large in their BIG3 debuts.

While there really aren't official stats kept on the BIG3 website, reports have been given as to who scored what, or grabbed how many rebounds.

Tri-State, despite being on the losing end of their game, saw Mike James have the closest game to a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

The top performance of the first weekend easily went to Andre Owens of 3's Company.

Owens recorded a double-double with a whopping 29 points and 15 rebounds. The Ball Hogs' Rasual Butler scored 22 points, and teammate Derrick Byars had 19.

BIG3 top performers Week 1:

  • Andre Owens (3's Company) 29 points, 15 rebs.
  • Al Harrington (Trilogy) 25 points
  • Rasual Butler (Ball Hogs) 22 points
  • Rashad Evans (Killer 3s) 18 points, 12 rebs.
  • Mike James (Tri-State) 13 points, 12 rebs, 6 assists

Rashad Evans of the Killer 3s gave his team 18 points and 12 rebounds in another BIG3 double-double, but his team came up way short. On the other side, it was former Pacers' star Al Harrington who recorded 25 points on his first outing in the new league.

Week 2 arrives this coming Sunday, July 2nd, as the BIG3 Basketball league invades the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Which teams and players will separate themselves from the pack in the second weekend of action?
