German champions Bayern Munich insist there's no chance Poland international Robert Lewandowski will leave the Bavarian giants this summer. In England, Newcastle United prime target Pepe Reina has been reportedly offered a new deal by Italian club SSC Napoli which contains a $5million release clause for interested club sides outside of Italy. Here's a complete report of the latest transfers updates Making The Rounds.
Bayern warns clubs over Lewandowski's speculated transfer
Robert Lewandowski's representative, Maik Barthel, recently revealed the Polish forward was not happy with Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti and teammates after failing to finish up as the German Bundesliga top goalscorer the last term. Maik Barthel told reporters: “Lewandowski told me that he got no good support and that the manager gave no apparent call to help him in the last match to finish up as the league's top scorer.”
Those statements apparently fueled claims that the 28-year-old striker will look to leaving Germany this summer, and Manchester United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a possible move for the Polish international.
Bayern Munich has told the both EPL clubs to forget about trying to lure their top striker away, according to Metro Sport. A Bayern Munich official statement said: “Bayern aren't wasting any thoughts about a possible move by Robert. There are no negotiations with other clubs, and there would not be any. “If other club sides approach a player, who've long termed contracts, they risk sanctions from the world's football governing body. His agent
“If other club sides approach a player, who've long termed contracts, they risk sanctions from the world's football governing body. His agent too has firmly assured us that no transfer discussions are being conducted for the striker.”
Napoli offers Reina new contract to remain in Italy
Pepe Reina's current contract expires in the summer of 2019 and he has been “locked” in talks for the past few months over a possible contract extension.
Napoli is reportedly desperate for the Spaniard keeper to sign fresh terms, but Premier League club Newcastle United are also offering the 34-year-old the chance to return to England. Though SSC Napoli still wants Reina to pen a new deal, and according to Chronicle Live, they've formally offered the goalkeeper terms which contains a release clause.
The agreement in the contract would allow the 34-year-old to join clubs outside of Italy for around $5million. Pepe Reina is reportedly more ready to agree to such a deal along these lines, although the Spaniard keeper wants his release clause lowered to about $1.9million.
