With just days until WWE "Payback" 2017, the latest episode of "SmackDown Live" hits the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday evening. Among the big stories heading into the show will be a women's championship match, a Beat The Clock match to determine top contenders for a title, and Randy Orton vs. Erick Rowan ahead of Randy's "House of Horrors" match. What else will go down on the "blue brand" for WWE? Here's a look at what to expect on the "SmackDown Live" installment scheduled for Tuesday, April 25th.
Championship match & contenders
As determined last week, "The Queen" Charlotte Flair will challenge WWE "SmackDown" Women's title holder Naomi for her championship. While she's held a women's title many times, this marks the first time that Charlotte has challenged for that particular title. Naomi is fresh off winning back the championship from Alexa Bliss at "WrestleMania 33," but can she bounce back from a loss to Charlotte last week and defeat her tonight?
Also, new No. 1 contenders will be named for The Usos' tag team titles. WWE will have a "Beat the Clock" tournament consisting of various tag teams. The tag team that wins their match in the least amount of time off the clock, will end up becoming the top contenders.
Among the competitors will be American Alpha, Primo and Epico Colon, The Ascension, and Breezeango.
Other stories to watch
One of the newest members of the main roster, Shinsuke Nakamura is scheduled for an exclusive interview to start the show. Also, AJ Styles and Baron Corbin will have a rematch after their battle last week.
Styles is still the top contender for Kevin Owens' (or Chris Jericho's) United States title after the WWE "Payback" results this Sunday. One has to think that Kevin Owens may be watching as he could have beef after what happened last week when Styles was thrown into him!
In addition to all of that, "The Viper" Randy Orton has a tough match on his hands just days before he competes against Bray Wyatt in a "House of Horrors" match at WWE "Payback." Tonight he'll take on one of Wyatt's disciples and "Family" members, Erick Rowan.
This won't necessarily be a "House of Horrors" match, but it will be no disqualification, meaning that anything goes!
The latest WWE "SmackDown Live" show starts up from Des Moines at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on the USA channel. Cable and satellite subscribers may be able to watch it live online through the USA Network website. There's also SlingTV service as an option, as their middle-tier channel package includes the USA channel.
