The Hardy Boyz, on their 7th reign as tag team champions in WWE, will try to defend the RAW tag team title against a studded tandem of Sheamus and Cesaro at “WWE Payback” 2017 at SAP Center in San Jose, California.

What just happened?

The Hardys have been on fire since making their WWE comeback at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando, Florida. After winning the four-way ladder match at Mania, Matt and Jeff Hardy defended the title against the Club’s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson the following night on “Monday Night RAW.”

The Hardyz then engaged in two singles competition with their Payback opponents.

The first featured Jeff Hardy against Cesaro on April 17 episode of RAW, while Matt Hardy battled Sheamus the following week on April 24. The Hardys won both singles matches via pinfall, and surprisingly, Sheamus showed sportsmanship by shaking the victors’ hands on those two occasions.

After ending the New Day’s record-breaking reign as RAW tag-team champions, the Sheamus-Cesaro connection went through a roller-coaster ride of wins and losses in tag-team competitions. Nevertheless, the duo showed great chemistry the past few weeks, a feat that’s surprising given the fact that they are just months removed from their classic best-of-seven showdown.

Who’s going to win?

At Wwe Payback, Sheamus and Cesaro gun for their second reign as tag team champions, but also realize that they have to bring their A-game if they want to beat a far more experienced team.

There’s a reason why the Hardy Boyz are one of the most decorated tag team in WWE history. Their experiences in hardcore matches against the Dudley Boyz and ‘The Brood’ Edge and Christian have made them more formidable throughout the years.

At Payback, Jeff and Matt will prove to the world that they are the best in the business right now. Heck, this card could steal the whole PPV despite limited showtime, considering the talent involved in this tag-team title match. Unfortunately, only one team can walk away with the title. And according to backstage rumors, the Hardy Boyz are the ones winning this one.

What’s next?

With the Hardy Boyz projected to retain the title, the next possible move for them is a feud vs.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass. WWE has been pushing this duo since their main roster event more than a year ago but hasn’t given them a championship reign up to this point. WWE chairman Vince McMahon reportedly wants the Hardy Boyz to have an extensive feud with his tag-team project, to make Enzo and Cass’ first title reign a lot more memorable.
